Honestly, it drives me mad. Firstly, he takes the day off work for no reason at all.
Okay, then he gets up with the children(early risers) but when I come out he is asleep on the sofa and they are watching television.
I wake him up, tell him how angry I am!
He says sorry love, I am exhausted.
Exhausted says I! You only have one day off a week, that means only one lay in for me, and you can't even do that properly!!Don't talk to me about exhausted!!
On top of all that, I have got to do a big grocery shop as his family have invited themselves round tonight.
I am really not in the mood.
Don't worry, he says, just do sandwiches, they only want to drop cards off!
Oh yea, says I , I can imagine the reaction if I served up sandwiches!
Honestly, men!!!!

"You only have one day off a week, that means only one lay in for me"

Is this a wind-up? So he has to get up but you are the only one not to get a lie in.

posieflump · 28/04/2008 13:54

serve up sandwiches
if he only gets one dy off a week and you get to lie in that day when does he get to lie in?

nickytwotimes · 28/04/2008 13:55

YABU.
He's only got one day off.

mumblechum · 28/04/2008 13:55

Blimey you sound like a harridan.

rookiemater · 28/04/2008 14:03

You can't be for real.
You were asleep in bed and your children were perfectly happy in front of the telly with their Dad. Whats the problem ?
People are coming round for dinner, do some spag bol, requires about 4 items from the supermarket and takes 20 minutes to make.

glaskham · 28/04/2008 14:04

my DH gets 2 days off a week and HE gets to lie in as he's the one doing paid work!! some days he does a late shift and he'll get up with the kids while i lie in bed, but it doesn't happen often as i'm used to getting up early, i just fall asleepon him if we're watching a film or something!!

Uriel · 28/04/2008 14:06

Er, YABU. Your poor dh.

If your dh thinks his family will be happy to eat sandwiches, why not bow to his greater knowledge and make them?

glaskham · 28/04/2008 14:06

Aww Rookie- you've made me want spag bol now!!!! MMMMMMM.....i do love a good spag bol and its so easy to make i agree!!

What do the family want to drop cards off for anyway?

Cappuccino · 28/04/2008 14:06

"I can imagine the reaction if I served up sandwiches"

what? would they melt?

HappyNewYearFeet06 · 28/04/2008 14:07

YABU if you expect a lie in on the one day he is off work.

My dh works 5 days a week, he gets a lie in on Sat and I do on Sun but I always let him sleep in longer than I do. Iam always up before him on the days he works too.

johnso · 28/04/2008 14:08

I don't think they would be greatly impressed Cappucino-I have a violatile relationship with them

glaskham- for his birthday

I'm not surprised you have a volatile relationship with them if you overreact in this way to every little thing

your dh tried to make it easier on you

but that wouldn't do

nickytwotimes · 28/04/2008 14:10

It's his birthday and he didn't get a lie in?

You are definitely joking, aren't you?!

glaskham · 28/04/2008 14:10

so its your DH's birthday and HE doesn't get a lie in????

And isn't sandwiches and sausage rolls the norm for party food, kids will love it and family can like it or lump it!!!

FAWKEOFF · 28/04/2008 14:12

so its his birthday and you get the lie in...i think you are the inconsiderate one in all honesty...i would be mightily pissed off with you if i was your hubby

OrmIrian · 28/04/2008 14:12

I think it must be a joke...

dingdong05 · 28/04/2008 14:13

YABU
And if you are so stressed about food then tell your dh to do it. If he does sandwiches and they gowl then you can sit there smugly.

HappyNewYearFeet06 · 28/04/2008 14:14

Lol, if I have relatives popping round to give cards then I do tea and cake! Unless ihave sepciafically invitedthemfor dinner then it would be a cooked meal otherwise I will do sandwiches andsausage rolls for a small birthday tea.

Now YABU for moaning that you didn't get a lie in when its his one day off a week AND its his birthday!!

grouphug · 28/04/2008 14:14

Whose birthday is it?

glaskham · 28/04/2008 14:16

this is either a wind up or some serious PMT that OP doesn't realise!!!

pagwatch · 28/04/2008 14:16

yep - either a wind up or a serious witch

johnso · 28/04/2008 14:18

In my defence, his birthday isn't something we usually celebrate that much so I was quite surprised he took the day off and that those outlaws are coming round.
H e does get a lay in sometimes, I have had a few late nights, that's all
Anyway, problem solved, he taken children to the supermarket to buy food

Talk to your wife if you are angry with her. This is a bit of a transparent attempt to whip you up sme sympathy, but the only thing to do is tell her.
