Imposter syndrome

Excuse the dramatic name change please lol

How can I deal with imposter syndrome?

I’m in a senior role at work and still don’t feel confident in myself when I make a comment in a meeting for example.

I’m quite casually looking for something else and on a whim applied for a role that is the same ‘role’ but different industry. More senior than I am now. I didn’t think I’d even get an interview as my experience just isn’t quite there but I’ve had an interview and put through to second stage!

How to I get more confident? Also anyone taken on a role that feels out of their range and have a mega success story to tell? 😁

Just imagine you’re a man, winging it with none of the necessary qualifications.

Imposter syndrome can actually be quite a good thing. It’s better than unfounded arrogance and it helps people do the best job they can.

Most people have it at least a bit. Even the people who look like they never could.

My advice is definitely fake it till you make it.

Also, and importantly, they already know what experience you’ve got, yet they’ve still moved you on in the process.

So your experience at this stage is pretty irrelevant. They just want to see what you’re like and what you’re capable of.

Hey everyone! Sorry for not coming back to this thread - I wanted to update.

I'm in the final stages! Next week & it's a meet the team so not a formal interview as such. Still feel like an impostor but they must see value in me to have put me this far through the process!

Having recently retired from a senior role and suffering myself from imposter syndrome.
My advice is everyone else is winging it too.
Men are just better at pretending there not

@ThePoshUns thank you - that definitely makes me feel better. Definitely feel like I'm the only one who doesn't know what she's doing sometimes 😅
