To ask if you batch cook… are we going to be unwell?

Preheated the oven to 200 to heat veggie curry up that we made about a month ago and kept in the freezer. Chickpeas, peas and peppers, no dairy or anything

We cook it with foil over for 30 mins then usually give it another 10 with the foil off

We’ve made it once before and I remember it was piping hot when reheating it like this

DH put it in and got it out the oven at the right timings. Today I noticed after eating a few forkfuls that it was not piping hot, rather just warm as if it had been left to cool down for ages. This shouldn’t have been this case as he only got it out 2 mins before serving it. No idea why it wasn’t hot given the cooking time. After a few more mouthfuls we decided it needed to be hotter so microwaved our plates for a minute each.

I’m really worried we’ll be poorly! Especially as we have a newborn, food poisoning is the last thing we need. I’m wondering if he forgot to click ‘start’ on the oven and perhaps it only had the final ten minutes, I just don’t know.

Should it be ok as it was only veg?

You'll be absolutely fine!

It's just cold vegetables, what exactly do you think is going to make you unwell?

Urbanpomade · 19/11/2024 19:59

You'll be fine! It's only veg. I'd still eat it if it was meat too, after a blast in the micro!

AllTangledUpInTinselAndTiaras · 19/11/2024 20:00

It's only vegetables. Tbh I'd be pretty chilled about it even if it had been meat.

ChocolateTelephone · 19/11/2024 20:07

You’ll be fine! Unless you have an extremely delicate constitution some lightly chilled vegetables won’t cause harm.

boulevardofbrokendreamss · 19/11/2024 20:14

Why do you think it would make you ill?

Enterthedragonqueen · 19/11/2024 20:16

Why didn't you reheat it on the cooker in a saucepan? That's quicker and cheaper than reheating it in the oven. Defrost in the fridge the night before and it's ready to reheat on the hob in 5 mins.

Thanks everyone. Hormones have me looking out for everything these days!
