No Farmers no Food

this has been the slogan from the Indian farmers and the world’s needs to listen to all farmers before big corporations take over farming

It crazy that all farmers are being squeezed by governments and big corporations

This Govt has no idea about farming, it is pure politics of envy.

I am from a farming family - we don't have the farm any more, so it's no skin off my nose, but I know how little money farmers make these days. They work so hard, for so little. The nominal value of their land is neither here nor there - if they are forced to sell it, who will buy it? We'll end up with someone like Musk or Bezos owning all the farmland and the countryside as we know it is gone, ditto decent food production.

Do you know what a Communist is? Or did you lift your comment from your local Facebook page. I bet you refer to Mayor of London as "Khan" don't you?

star trek spock GIF

Pretty sure this is how people refer to the mayor of London

LastNightMyPJsSavedMyLife · 19/11/2024 18:20

@skippy67 thank you so
Much for your well thought out yet predictable, weak response. I don't need to refer to the Mayor of London as anything, life for most people does not revolve around London and that particular person isn't worth the headspace.

I can spot a liberal leftwing wanker though!
You are most welcome.... it seems sheep are not found just in the country. London is full of them...,Bah.

yea agreed it’s the politics of envy only people related to farmers understand the hard work for no guarantee of success for the year. People have lost everything when they had a poor year farmers take all the risk

It’s jealousy, pure and simple. I want some of what they have without doing any of the hard graft.

user1467300911 · 19/11/2024 19:07

I don’t think it is necessarily jealousy, more a lack of understanding.

People who run other kinds of business struggle to understand farming. Why do farmers not succession plan? But more importantly, farming is hard work, so why such a poor return on their assets?

I suspect that supermarkets and processors are not paying farmers a fair price for the food they produce. But I don’t know how we change that, especially with cheap, low welfare / standard imports coming in via those Tory trade deals.

I'm guessing you learnt that word from a daily mail opinion piece?

@yetanotherusername9183837
very good points however difficult it is in this country there is a safety net. Which Africa and Indian farmers don’t have. There was a suicide issues with Indian farmers going bankrupt with a faild crop year. Very very sad and no support and yet the Indian government wanted to squeeze them even further. They had rallied in Delhi with slogan “No farmers no food” so an international issue
