This has happened a few times to me lately, on topics I’m quite knowledgeable about, then I get to the end and can’t be arsed with the drama. Does anyone else do this?

OP posts:
EineReiseDurchDieZeit · 18/11/2024 21:25

All. The. Time.

Especially if I think someone will jump down my throat

Tomatina · 18/11/2024 21:25

Yes. I write it, and then think 'does anyone in the universe actually give a damn what I think?'.
The answer is usually 'no'.

EmeraldRoulette · 18/11/2024 21:26

WildFlowerBees · 18/11/2024 21:23

Yes except I never write a reply, I can't be arsed. I can't understand why some just go on and on, someone starts a thread and two posters derail it by arguing back and forth. Who has time for it, it's strangers on the interweb.

So yes but ..no 😂

unsync · 18/11/2024 21:26

Yup, did it today and I put a flippant one up instead and got told I was moronic 🤣

barbarahunter · 18/11/2024 21:29

Yes I do that too, for all the reasons already given

Floatlikeafeather2 · 18/11/2024 21:30

I do. I start to read it back before I post it and think "Why on earth am I doing this? I don't know these people, they don't care what I think, really, they just want me to agree with them and I don't. Go and do something useful/more enjoyable."

Moonshine5 · 18/11/2024 21:31

Yes. I'm glad I'm not alone.

Spondoolies · 18/11/2024 21:32

Yeah I do it too

Alwaystired23 · 18/11/2024 21:32

Yes, all the time. I write an essay as a reply, then think I can't be bothered and delete.

Clafoutie · 18/11/2024 21:33

Missionimprobable · 18/11/2024 20:27

Yes, I've done it twice today (day off work).
People are too quick to find fault, not read your post properly or completely take what you're saying the wrong way and jump on you.
It's absolutely draining

Completely agree with this.

Latenightreader · 18/11/2024 21:34

The only time I sort of regretted deleting a message was in response to a creepy stalkerish message from someone who was part of my crowd of friends in 6th form almost 20 years before and who sent me a long rant with veiled threats because I hadn't responded to his friends request. I wrote a beautiful reply and then blocked him without sending it.

SexAndCakes · 18/11/2024 21:37

I do it at work.

MadBlack · 18/11/2024 21:37

Yes all the time

TadpolesInPool · 18/11/2024 21:44

All the time.
I also compose thread openers in my head before deciding that I just don't care enough to give all the context people would need...

Currently debating posting about how annoyed I am at just how much food DH, DS1 and 2 eat (that I shop for and cook from scratch) but I can't really be arsed. I know Im not BU cos they really do eat loads. But I also know I don't want any random solutions (like buy more prepared food) so whats the point?

(Am now debating whether to post this or not so will click post before I delete yet again)

veganmayo · 18/11/2024 22:11

Allll the time.

bluebalou · 19/11/2024 19:54

Some of the long winded names on here I cba to type when I'm replying to them , so just post it anyway ... somethings I need to get off my chest to nobody In particular ha

usernother · 19/11/2024 20:06

Yes. Not just on here.

LoremIpsumCici · 19/11/2024 20:08

Yes, I am guilty of this. Sometimes it’s not worth scrapping over who gets the last word.

GiddyRobin · 19/11/2024 20:09

Yep, I've noticed myself doing this a few times lately. It's just not worth the hassle.

I've also taken to just writing a version of "I'm done with this" when posters are clearly just after an argument. I'll discuss things but I'm not wasting my energy on some random who just wants to take their bad mood out online.

AllTangledUpInTinselAndTiaras · 19/11/2024 20:12

Yes. I do it a lot lately! But not often enough. 😁

wavingfuriously · 19/11/2024 20:15

Yes

IAmNeverThePerson · 19/11/2024 20:16

Yup all the time! I find it helps me sort it out. If I am feeling particularly vitriolic I write it out on paper so I can’t accidentally send.

saltinesandcoffeecups · 19/11/2024 20:17

All the damn time. Although sometimes they are the snarky responses that nobody needs, so it’s not a bad thing in my case.

On the flip side I find myself researching answers on the dumbest (to me) topics. So I can respond with detail. Happened this morning on the zoo thread. I spent about 30 min looking up zoos and I have no real interest in discussing or visiting zoos! I think sometimes I just like random information.

NotMeNoNo · 19/11/2024 20:17

All the time

WillowTit · 19/11/2024 20:18

Yes
