..to expect the babybond clinic to be OPEN! when I turn up for my BOOKED scan appointment ...

.. as it - er - wasn't. After an hour of driving through north london traffic, we arrive at the appointed time and place to find the clinic closed. An hour and a half later when we finally get hold of babybond we get no apology, just "oh there was a "mix-up" and for some reason we weren't told the clinic wasn't open yet and had been booked to go to the Norbury clinic. No disrespect to Norbury, but we had to look it up in the A to Z and its the opposite side of London to us!

So a completely wasted morning, for which I had arranged childcare. They "kindly" offered to take our £120 and scan us on 1st June (!) - or as my DH said, we could just book with an organisation that seems remotely f-ing competent.

Try The Birth Company if you are up for a 3D or 4D scan as they are really good and actually not that expensive for a posh harley st clinic.

If you were trying to get a wellbeing scan or scan for medical reasons, then the Fetal Medicine Centre is your answer.

Both are in the same building! You are not being unreasonable, I looked at Babybond's website and it looked a bit 'mass produced' for my liking but lots of people have said good things about it. But NO, YANBU!

Thanks for the suggestions, we were going partly for general reassurance as I recently had a lot of bleeding (am now 18 weeks) and partly to find out the sex. Am now tempted to wait for a 3d or 4d and find out the sex then as our trust won't tell us at the 20 week ....

I also had a bad experience with them - had booked a nuchal scan and they called up that morning to cancel. Then it took them 2 months to process the refund. Would never use them again

paddycat · 28/04/2008 16:37

Thanks allnew, I'm shocked they would cancel a nuchal as that is time-critical - when I had a CVS recently I was on the last couple of days that I could have it. If they have taken any money off our credit card there will be hell to pay ...

Will they not tell you the sex from the CVS paddycat (totally accurate unlike scans) or does that fall under the trust's "don't tell" policy as well? I had a CVS and the consultant asked me beforehand if I wanted to know, then ticked the relevant box on the form.

paddycat · 30/04/2008 10:44

Hi sunnydelight we thought so too and asked to be told after the test - but then got the 2 day result rather than the full 14 day result and were told you only get to find out the sex if you have the full result. So disappointed!

Oh, I'm not surprised you were disappointed! I thought everyone got the results in two stages like I did - the quick result for the major genetic disorders, then the later results for the rarer syndomes and the gender if you've asked for it. Hope you manage to get what you want

Hi Guys
Just reading threads on the bad experiences you guys have had.
Why dont you try baby scan in cosham portsmouth I have had lots of really positive feedback from friends stating they had a lovely experience and it was a friendly clinic which was very resonably priced and got alot for your money.
The atmosphere there is homely and informal and you dont feel like a number
You can find them on
www.babyscanco.co.uk
they are only hour from london
