To ask you to diagnose my tummy pain and fever

Sitting in hospital awaiting blood test results, with DH and my 9 day old baby. I had an elective section which went smoothly and minimal blood loss, pain free recovery mostly.

I’ve had sharp abdominal cramps that come and go in waves for the last 24 hours. Also very constipated, but have managed to go (though it was painful). The pain is travelling about all over my tummy. Going to the toilet briefly relieves it but it’s very hard to go.

Tonight I felt shivery and my temp was 39.2 so we have come to maternity triage.

The doctor seems confused as to what it could be but has sent off some blood tests, saying they guess it’ll be an infection but nothing jumps out at them to say I’d be at risk of an infection (which I find is a joke, given that the consent form I signed literally said 1 in whatever number risk of womb infection, etc)

So symptoms are
Constipation
Abdo cramps which come and go in waves, worse with movement
temperature (comes down with paracetamol), was shivery earlier but not now

No other symptoms and feel well in self. Also breastfeeding but no obvious mastitis symptoms

Just for boredom purposes as I’m here receiving medical care, does anyone have any idea what this might be? We’ll be in hospital till the bloods come back. I really just want some oral antibiotics and would hate being readmitted and needing IV ABs.

The abdominal cramps likely constipated still. Temp an unrelated infection, maybe in the wound or a UTI?
Hooe you feel better soon, no fun being in hospital with a newborn to look after

It does sound like some sort of infection 😕 the constipation could be unrelated though. Have you been drinking plenty and/or taking any over the counter constipation remedies? Glycerin suppositories might make it less painful to go.

Congratulations on the new baby! It sounds like an infection or could be your appendix. Have they checked that? The stomach pains may be after birth pains (I remember after one of mine they were excruciating) and the temperature a coincidence.

Sounds like postpartum endometriosis
