I'm a male manager in a school. Feeling undermined by another male colleague.
Behaviours include sending new ideas for department to principal asking her permission, and informing me via email after. Handing in work that had a long deadline last minute but it's clear v little time had been spent on it (can see this from document details), on numerous occasions.

Setting a competition for pupil, then only letting me know the day before that he was travelling a few hours away with pupil to take part in competition. Cover has been sorted etc prior to all of tgis. Organising a speaker to come in to speak to his class of pupils while I was off sick for a day. I find out through whole staff email.

Asking me to check and finish off work.

I'd book in a weekly catch up to check he's making the improvements you require. Clear the air by saying you want ro be supportive and want him to do well however your not going to lie to SM when things don't get done, you hope you can both move forward in a positive way

Hi yes I called the meeting after email. There's other things going on, but basically yes. I think they thought I wasn't noticing the other things...and thought they would have the upper hand. I acted calming and professionally, they did not. Yes my manager was kept in the loop throughout thus past few weeks anyway. I'm hoping the things brought up in the meeting will change things in terms of keeling me informed, doing better work etc, however relations will be damaged for a while.
