Should DD20 BF of offered to get her takeaway or AIBU

Not sure if I am being unreasonable here
DD20 bf and his sister got themselves takeaway tonight and her bf didn’t offer to get her anything (just to add DD has paid for him before) they are going out to his family house and I told her if she’s hungry to let them know there.
AIBU that maybe her bf should have offered since she’s paid for him before or AIBU in my thinking?

Because its nice that OPs DD is close to her Mum and recognises a situation where her partner has been rude and made her feel awful. OP is now asking our opinion as that's what these forums are for, is it not?

Exactly thank you we are very close

I agree he should have offered/asked if she wanted anything but surely they're going to sit there eating their takeaway in front of her whilst she has nothing.

Ponderingwindow · 16/11/2024 18:22

Did she have no money or did she not have the budget for a takeaway? Entirely different scenarios. The first is a safety issue and you need to talk to her about it.

then talk to her about the wisdom of having a boyfriend who would eat in front of her without making sure she was taken of. Decent people don’t just tuck into a meal in front of guests.

This. I would also advise her to stop buying her boyfriend meals etc if the relationship continues.

MissScarletInTheBallroom · 16/11/2024 18:40

Mean with money, mean with love. It's really tight to get yourself a takeaway and not include your girlfriend if she is at your house at the time.

Bit weird that you're posting on Mumsnet about this though.

healthybychristmas · 16/11/2024 18:40

He's not much for a boyfriend if he would see her go hungry while he eats a takeaway. she deserves better treatment than that.

banananapancake · 16/11/2024 18:40

decorativecushions · 16/11/2024 18:22

What? 😂

She's 20. She should be able to tell her boyfriend she needs him to lend her money so I think it's a front to get her mum to send her money. For drugs potentially.

banananapancake · 16/11/2024 18:11

Can't she just say I don't have any money can you sub me? I'd be concerned this is all a lie to get money for drugs

Hmm

How did you make that leap?

Why else would she lie to get money from her mum

Singleandproud · 16/11/2024 18:44

Have they eaten yet? Surely they'll just share when it arrives as she doesn't have the money, very few takeaways you can't split and share one way or the other.

She was with him and he ordered takeaway and didn't offer?? 🚩

Agreed unless there’s an backstory that your dd never pays for anything, which you say is untrue, this is awful. So rude.

Jesus Christ, this place sometimes 🙄

I wonder whether @banananapancake has lived with an addict. I have, and my mind went to exactly the same place. I wish it wouldn't.

LBFseBrom · 16/11/2024 18:55

Maybe they shared with her. There's often quite a lot in a takeaway.

Personally I think your daughter's boyfriend should have offered, it was the polite thing to do but none of us were there so - wait and see what she says when she gets home.

Mercedes45 · 16/11/2024 18:56

This place is hilarious. This thread is going to turn into how the daughter of the op lied to get a tenner out of her to buy a tenners worth of drugs 🤣🤣

Thank you! Glad I'm not the only one who thinks it sounds suss. Like I say that or her boyfriend is a prick

TheCyanGuide · 16/11/2024 18:57

YABVVU for asking solely based off that text, none of us know what actually happened.
Did she just sit and wait to be offered... her BF isn't a mind reader.
Or did she say that she had no money and get ignored.
Very different situations.

Also what does 'no money' mean. Her bank account balance is zero? She can't afford it as she's skint?

Chowtime · 16/11/2024 18:58

Why did she go out without any money and why doesn't she have any money?

Your posts reveal so much about you.

Snapandfart24 · 16/11/2024 19:00

I think the key thing is that as well as hungry, your DD will be feeling very awkward and uncomfortable and that's something the BF should have considered. If she texted you and told you, but not said anything to him about it and is sat there hungry, somethings not right, is it? I mean, manners is one thing, but that's just really inconsiderate and seems odd to me he didn't offer. Did he at least ask if she'd eaten? You're definitely not being unreasonable, OP.
I hope she's comfortable saying she'd rather go home if the evening doesn't improve, I'd want to go home if I were her.
