Aibu to be really upset. My oral hygiene is excellent , I have FH of gum disease so much so I visit the dentist every 3 months to make sure I’m all clear and now for the last 2 days my gums have been so sore 😩. Now I’m terrified! How can I make it go away?

All I can see is that you’ve over brushed or scratched the gum and removed the outer surface of the gum. Nobody can diagnose gum disease from a photo. It needs measurements of pocket depths for that

Screamingabdabz · 15/11/2024 23:42

It looks like bog standard receding gums to me…

Occasionally I have a problem with my gums - bleeding or sore gums. And then I will use anti bacterial mouthwash for a few days and it really helps clear up any gum problems. I don't use Cordysol but I use the Sainsbury's own brand equivalent of Cordysol - it's cheaper but effective. I don't know if you've tried anything similar OP?

Your teeth look great, and if you're going to the dentist 4 times a year I'm sure you've nothing to worry about. Everyone gets sore gums occasionally.

TwattyMcFuckFace · 16/11/2024 00:09

Try Cordysol that'll bring the inflammation down.

I got her to check before if I had any signs of gum disease and I didn’t , I’m guessing it’s gingivitis but again even that terrifies me. I’ve seen apperently listerine gum care is good so I’m gonna buy some of that. My teeth are probably the only thing I like about myself I’d hate to lose them or anything!

Looks like you're over doing it. I have receding gums (a few accelerated thanks to piercings). But no pockets or significant gum disease. Your teeth look great. You'd be shocked by mine if I posted photos. Calm down, your teeth are fine. Stop going at them hard. You really don’t need to be panicking that you might lose your teeth at this stage. Clearly you're very on top of dental care. There's no need to be so anxious.

Why are you guessing that it’s gingivitis when I’ve told you what it is? You’ve simply removed the outer epithelial layer of the unattached gingiva
