I work in a care home and one of the staff too my blood pressure. It was 98/48. Which is low. My husband has a machine and I tested it again after work and it was still the same. This morning after sleep it was 98/60.

Should I be worried.

No

You can monitor morning and night readings for a week and submit to your GP for advice if you are worried.

SnakesAndArrows · 15/11/2024 20:26

No. Why would you worry? I’d be delighted.

Tophelleborine · 15/11/2024 20:27

If you feel fine then probably not, but if you start to get lightheaded or dizziness/blacking out then it's worth investigating further. Dehydration is a big cause of low blood pressure - do you drink plenty and is there enough salt in your diet?

StarStay · 15/11/2024 20:27

Do you know what your blood pressure normally is? Mine is similar to your reading but it's normal for me and I also have no symptoms. It's low but it's not bad sort of low

StarDolphins · 15/11/2024 20:28

This is what mine is like often! I wake up sometimes & can’t even tell if my heart is beating! I never thought to worry😱

Greybeardy · 15/11/2024 20:28

why did they take your BP? was the cuff size appropriate for you?

Ilikeviognier · 15/11/2024 20:28

Mine is regularly 92/60 and I’m fine. It’s just how I am.

BloodandGlitter · 15/11/2024 20:29

Mines always been low like this, it's all good as long as I don't stand up too fast or move my head too quickly.
Better low than high.

HoundsMamma · 15/11/2024 20:30

Mine is usually exactly around that. Only issue is after operations I’ve had to go on IV fluids because of it. I don’t really have any symptoms either. They also wouldn’t prescribe beta blockers to me for fear of flying anxiety due to low BP which was a pain.

Elisabeth3468 · 15/11/2024 20:33

It's fine. Loads of people run on that kind of blood pressure. Very healthy and nothing to worry about.

Cantbebotheredwithausername · 15/11/2024 20:34

No, you're fine. Low blood pressure is really only a problem if you have symptoms, or in the event of acute severe illness or trauma.

Havalona · 15/11/2024 20:39

Similar here, hovers around 100/60. Huge spike when I go to the doctor's though, that old White Coat Syndrome!

Anyway, the docs are in a bit of a bind as I need Beta Blockers for Atrial Fibrillation and that has reduced my BP to around the above readings. Without them I'd be in serious trouble with a fast heart rate so it's a balancing act.

Good news is I have very few symptoms and am never tired out (am67), don't nap and walk a few kms every day etc. The only time it seems to bother me is when I have to lie flat on the examining table at the docs or hospital. It's all stars and the dizzies then! But I recover quickly enough.

Well I hope it will stay ok, but docs don't seem to be all that concerned for now.
