to not feel comfortable with this

I’m prepared to be told that IBU

My house went up for sale on Monday. Lots of interest.

anyway, it’s worth noting that I’m not a prolific user of Facebook but I have it and I don’t mind it. I don’t get sent any notifications so have to go into the app. My friend posted the right move link to my house on Facebook yesterday and tagged me in the post saying “My friend youngoldagain’s house is up for sale…”

I have never posted pictures inside my house on social media so no one would ever know that the house is mine and there’s nothing identifiable in the pictures so if you looked at the house on rightmove you wouldn’t know it was mine.

there are comments underneath commenting on the house (all positive) but I just feel a bit off about people seeing into my house and passing comment. All her friends and all of mine can see it.

im aware I probably sound very precious - I’m not. I just find social media a bit overwhelming and this feels a bit intrusive?

Should I say “I really appreciate your help in trying to get my house sold but would prefer if you had kept me anonymous..”?

@youngoldthing I was about to say, just ask her to delete it and say you know she means well but you feel really uncomfortable with it. Just editing it won’t always do it as the post can sometimes be cached.

Yes, she can say "My friend's lovely house is up for sale" without tagging you.
I kwym - I have tried quite hard to get to used to the intrusion of social media because I know it's the way now...but I don't think I'll ever be a fan.

Ask her to take it down. She should have asked you first. People are weird on social media.

youngoldthing · 15/11/2024 19:08

She’s just responded to say she thinks I’m off my
head as the house is lovely but she’ll take it down.

I agree with PP that I don’t think I’ll ever really be on board with social media and how intrusive it can be.

I'd be annoyed.
My manager looked up my house when it was for sale, including what I paid for it, he then wanted to discuss what I paid for it.
He then Google earthed my new house
Weird and intrusive.

No YANBU, I wouldn't like this either
