@YankSplaining

I don't think anything should be banned. But if I was on a commissioning team I wouldn't touch this. I think lots of victims of abuse gain power and peace by using dark humour in art to explore what happened to them (Jeanette McCurdy, for example). But this isn't the same. If someone told me that Shannon was part of the creative or production team then I'd feel differently. Otherwise it's exploitation.

How can anyone comment & make judgement about something they haven’t seen or heard? Am I wrong?
Is this the Daily Mail?
it’s like the Jonathan Ross / Russell Brand radio show with the Andrew Sachs answerphone prank. Tens of thousands of people complained yet very few heard it, just used hearsay & jumped on the bandwagon.
I am truly disgusted with those bandwagon jumpers! Signed, Disgruntled of Norfolk

We did hear it, it was played and shown repeatedly on TV and radio and it was absolutely disgraceful.

@BarryGw your terminology is sickening. What the fuck is wrong with you?!

Which terminology are you referring to? I lose track of what people on here get offended by.

PureBoggin · 15/11/2024 23:22

@CsideMilf just keep telling yourself that anyone who disagrees with you is a pearl-clutcher.

& did everyone that complained, as the whole thing went on for well over an hour if remember? Not just the media selected bits.
So everyone on here has seen Shannon Matthews the Musical the Movie too, to justify the outrage? Somehow I think not.

Have you watched it??

PureBoggin · 15/11/2024 23:25

@BarryGwon the wind up.

@CsideMilf people don't have to watch things to know they are exploitative.

CsideMilf · 15/11/2024 23:14

As stated, it didn’t come up in court, just your mind!

As stated, would YOU leave your children with a man who had been convicted of downloading images of CSA?

PureBoggin · 15/11/2024 23:26

@CsideMilf Tell us what you loved about it?

She called images of CSA "ki*e porn".

MatLeave · 15/11/2024 23:28

The wee girls name is plastered all over it. Totally shocking. I don't know what age the girl is now but seeing this must bring back some horrible memories for her.

KendraTheVampyrSlayer · 15/11/2024 23:30

CsideMilf · 15/11/2024 23:13

They aren’t a very welcoming bunch here.

Ban everything in case it causes offence to someone. Down with this sort of thing!!

Hey if they don’t want to see it, don’t rent it, or buy it & just move on & get back to Bake Off & Davina McCalls menopause docs.

I don't understand why anyone would want to watch people singing about the fake kidnapping and drugging of a child! Who are these insane fuckers?

PureBoggin · 15/11/2024 23:25

Guilty as charged. I've only ever been involved on here 3 times. And all 3 were to do with Kunt and the Gang.
People on here just seen to love being offended and telling their small group of like minded peers about it.
I personally think it's hilarious and akin to shooting fish in a barrel (metaphorically, not literally).

PureBoggin · 15/11/2024 23:26

@CsideMilf Tell us what you loved about it?

The catchy songs, & the fact that I happen to know some of the people that appeared in it too.

I had it on CD when it came out several years ago, so it was good to see it transformed into the visual, as I wasn’t able to see it performed in Edinburgh or Leeds.

It's a very dramatic story. If you didn't know it were true it could easily be made up! They made a very serious drama about the subject for terrestrial TV. The search, the discovery of the scam, her being found safe, the court case was covered extensively.
I guess someone else has tried to make a comedy about the subject. The budget might be low, but it could be amusing to some people. It's very clear what it is so I doubt anyone would accidentally watch it in the hope of a serious heartfelt documentary.
People make plays, shows, podcasts and TV movies about real life kidnapping cases all the time. Tasteless? Maybe. But it wouldn't offend me personally.

It's small-minded to think making a musical about a little girl being drugged and traumatised is distasteful? Do you also laugh at snuff films? Confused

PureBoggin · 15/11/2024 23:34

@BarryGw I'm glad you had fun. But you know people can disagree with you and dislike pieces of work without being offended by them. Maybe you're just not as clever as you think you are. As long as you got what you needed from the thread though.

Sorry, is that an offensive term now? I should have checked. I retract the term and will use the appropriate acronym in future.

That term has always been offensive if you're a normal sane person...

The courtroom scene is particularly powerful. The Defence Barrister plays an incredible role. Should be up for an award!

So I have to tell you about my childminding requirements because YOU made up “facts” about the case, & didn’t like it pointed out!! Happily to change the subject to deflect from your own lack of facts?

So now you're questioning my mental health? The nonce accusation has already been deleted by the admins. Does this post need reporting as well.
It seems you can't have a calm debate. You have to get nasty and personal.

KendraTheVampyrSlayer · 15/11/2024 23:41

You seem to be unable to make any judgements about anything unless you've seen all the evidence. How on earth do you plan for the future?

Surely anyone who doesn't have an IQ of 10 would conclude that a man who masturbates to children being abused has a very high probability of actually abusing children?
