To delete all X posts?

mynamechangemyrules · 15/11/2024 06:44

Sorry- posted this on Tech board yesterday but need some prompt answers so have put it here, thank for any help.

Hi, my abusive ex is screenshotting my X replies and sending them to me. They are from 3 years ago and irrelevant but I wanted to delete my X profile anyway as I never use it.

Before I deactivate- does this delete any replies etc or does that all live on?

Is there a way to delete the whole lot?!

Thanks!

Hey @mynamechangemyrules
I've reported your post to flag it up to the moderators. Not because there is a problem with it, but so it gets to the right people.
It might be worth reporting your own post too - I don't know if posts with more reports get looked at sooner or not.
I hope they can help you, but it's unusual for them to delete all posts from someone.

I think you've misunderstood. This is about X posts, not MN posts.

DoublePeonies · 15/11/2024 06:54

Oh, thanks, Euro.
Yes, I've definitely misunderstood!

AlexandrinaH · 15/11/2024 06:57

I had to do this OP - email them at contactus@mumsnet.com.

They do it pretty quickly.

Deleting your account will not remove them.

AlexandrinaH · 15/11/2024 06:57

Oh I’ve done the same thing 🤣

AlexandrinaH · 15/11/2024 06:59

When X is referred to in the news, they always say formerly Twitter. It helps!

Sorry OP, I’ve got no idea about X/Twitter stuff.

autienotnaughty · 15/11/2024 07:02

If you deactivate your account everything gets deleted. Obviously if he has screenshots he still has those.

After a month your username becomes free.

autienotnaughty · 15/11/2024 07:03

Why don't you delete. Make a dummy account and search for yourself to check?

PipMumsnet · 15/11/2024 10:34

Oh dear @MNHQ 😁

Would it help the OP if you edited the post so it says 'Twitter' or 'Formerly'?

HappiestSleeping · 15/11/2024 10:44

Off topic - but it shows what a nob Elon Musk is. He created a thing that had a word associated with the brand that was ubiquitous. Like Bic or Hoover. Most companies would kill for this kind of recognition.

Then he changes it to something unrelated.

What a complete cock.

TofuTart · 15/11/2024 10:46

Yeah, nobody knows it as X, if you say Twitter everyone will immediately know what you mean 😁

Elon didn't create Twitter originally. He bought it a couple of years ago, fired half the staff by email (not relevant to the name change but still knob behaviour), and then changed its name to X.

GertrudePerkinsPaperyThing · 15/11/2024 10:49

I actually thought this post was going to be about Musk! (Irrelevant I know)

Yes, of course. I'd forgotten that bit. Same principle though. Have a thing with a ubiquitous name and essentially kill it. I guess it was obvious that he is a nob even before that. I am wondering how long it will take for him to fall out with Trump.

TransvestitesOnParade · 15/11/2024 11:00

@HappiestSleeping sadly I think they're both cut from the same cloth so theirs might be a relationship that endures.

Merrymumoftwo · 15/11/2024 11:00

The posts delete however if they have been screenshot they can end up being reposted in someone else’s posts. A lot of celebrities have this issue

Thelnebriati · 15/11/2024 11:00

Apparently there's a TweetEraser you can use to delete all of your posts, otherwise they stay up. I haven't used it and can't vouch for it, but it seems legit.

Twitter obviously had a lot of faults, but X is now a very sleazy place, where inbetween all the comments on top trending topics, there are so many graphic porn adds. Also Elon uses X to push his own political bias. X is definitely not a neutral site on where people can voice their opinions and have healthy debates, there are lots of agendas on there now.
