I know I’m probably being unreasonable but I watched a horoscope video today that came up whilst scrolling and it’s given me really bad anxiety. Pease reassure me I’m being ridiculous and almost never true?

Of course it's not true! You can't possibly believe that one in twelve people in the world are going to have the things in that horoscope happen to them this week just because they all have their birthday around the same time as you? It's utterly bonkers.

I follow astrology but I tend to read the forums only, a lot of videos out there are basically click bait to get more viewers. There’s always good times and bad times in life just enjoy it, don’t listen too much to the videos!

Do you know why they started being reported in U.K. newspapers?

When Princess Margaret was born they had to fill a lot of column inches. One thing they found they could do was get a horoscope for her. They published it and it was so popular that they started to do them daily.

The thing with newspaper ones was that they were so general that they could apply to just about anyone. I’ve not seen video ones but I’m willing to bet it’s much the same.

You make bits true by interpreting things that have happened as falsely aligned to what these crappy predictions say.

The stars will be lined up slightly differently at conception (not birth!) for each person. I find the traits assigned to the star signs interesting but again, each person is different and you'd have to have your own chart done by a competent astrologer for it to be of any use. So - daily and monthly predictions are going to be so general that they are meaningless. Please don't take these seriously!

Thanks all, the first part of the predictions for the start of the week rang a lot of truth and I guess as someone with anxiety it then just got to me that the rest would all be true as well. I feel stupid I know I’m partly being ridiculous but I just needed to hear it from others and fear my friends in real life will think I’ve lost the plot if I ask them haha.

Tell us your star sign and one or more of us with the same one will come on to tell you that their weeks were nothing like yours, or each others, and that will prove what nonsense it is. Realistically, how can the world be divided into 12 groups and every single person in each group all have a surprise message on Monday and need to beware of an older female on Thursday..or whatever?

Horoscopes by sun sign that you get in newspapers are super generic, so everyone can interpret it to suit themselves. Horoscopes drawn up for your specific birth place (latitude/longitude) and time are specific to you. But then it depends on the skill of the astrologer whether they are genuinely interpreting correctly or making stuff up from the cues you give.

It’s was a video online is someone who does readings weekly for each star sign that I saw. My star sign is Leo for the poster who asked.

Don’t look at these if they make you anxious. Seek RL help for your anxiety instead.

I've had similar chats with friends, some swear by horoscopes, others find them silly. I like reading them for fun, but take them with a pinch of salt.

If you're curious to go a bit deeper than what magazines offer, I've found trusted-psychics.co.uk actually gives more detailed readings that feel more personal. Still, I wouldn’t base any big life choices just on that.

Horoscopes, like psychics, are a load of old horse-shit.
