They seem to get granted, some quickly and some slowly. If there is no reason why they might decline it, I would try not to worry. Is there a way of checking to see if you filled it out incorrectly? I would give the airline or travel agent a call and ask if you should/ can re-apply.

Did you have to enter your intended flight dates for the application?

Doggymummar · 13/11/2024 22:50

You won't get any money back, I wouldn't think, so don't cancel. The visa can be granted anytime up to takeoff so I would go to the airport, let him check in any you wait till the very last second for it to be issued. If you ever were in any doubt about it being authorised you wouldn't have booked, would you? so you'll have to white knuckle it.

There will be a desk at the airport that can help you apply for a visa (as many travellers forget to ahead of time). If you haven't received yours by then personally I'd get to the airport super early, go there and they might have some special pulling power to push it through more quickly. Definitely don't give up on your holiday!!

I've heard of weird unexplained delays before. I think that most of them get automatically approved but some of them are randomly selected for manual review.

Have you applied for the correct thing…an ETA Electronic Travel Authority.
last time we travelled, my husband was complaining bitterly how complex it was, but he was applying for the wrong type of visa. Usually an ETA is required, and it should be free. Do apply directly through the Australian Government website.

Just to add, he did have some problems many many years ago because there was someone with the same name, but no issues recently.

Unfortunately, I don’t think there is much anyone on here can do help.

Have you logged in and double checked that all the details on your application are correct? Did you upload a photo of your passport?

I applied for one on Monday and it was in my inbox before I’d moved my cursor off the submit button.
