Really petty gripe thread

My lodger who is lovely, insists on washing up by running the hot tap, putting enough washing up liquid on each item for a whole washing up bowl and just kind of swirling it round under the tap. He’s getting through a bottle of fairy a week (not replacing it).

I have a fucking dishwasher, which I have asked him to use. Finding greasy untensils and plates put back in the cupboards. Feel like hiding or not replacing the fairy as I hardly ever use it anyway.

Chuck him out

Ask him to buy his own or buy cheap own brand.

My petty gripe today is the £1 trolley charge, albeit refundable.

If I’m buying enough from your shop to justify needing a trolley, please trust me to return it!

Guess who needed a trolley today but didn’t have a pound ……

Omg that is so annoying, I have a token but when you forget it it’s so annoying.

Adult DS1 is staying.
He always leaves the downstairs lavatory lid closed, but the seat on the upstairs one up. Cold porcelain is always a shock with my half asleep, middle of the night pee!

I am the first to say it’s not women’s responsibility to fix useless men but - I would show him ONCE how to fill the bowl with hot water and one squirt and wash up like a normal person in the surprising event that nobody ever showed him/told him.

I mean, his way is just so random that I’d have to point this out!

Can’t wait to hear how he washes his clothes 😆

You could get one of those washing up brushes that slow releases the soap? ... his Christmas present, and a bottle of fairy!

I have one just the same: unfortunately, I'm married to him, but it really, really annoys me that he could have put the two plates and bowls in the dishwasher to complete a load, rather than wash them under the running hot top and use up all the Fairy Liquid.
He then leaves them to drain, and sometimes they are so not clean that I shove them in the dishwasher anyway, but woe betide me if he were to catch me doing that!

We have security in our Aldi. I asked the security guard recently if he had a pound coin I could borrow and he said yes.

Not sure that would work for everyone though.

People who don't drive at the speed limit....

Yuckyyuckyuckity · 10/11/2024 17:28

I don't do exactly what your lodger does, but I do hate washing up bowls with a passion.

BetteDavisChin · 10/11/2024 17:35

While I was at the local recycling centre this morning, a man pulled three big cardboard boxes out of his car and threw them in the skip WITHOUT SQUASHING THEM FIRST!!

Ooh, I was vexed

InstantDestiny · 10/11/2024 18:31

Omg - how he washes his clothes. He separates everything into about 220 separate loads and puts the most soap powder I have ever seen anyone use in my entire life. The whole machine is full of soap suds, and none of us can use the machine for the entire day.

Also - there should be a separate part of the car park for people who want to reverse in.

They do it primarily so that they don't have to pay someone to tidy up the car park, hence why you will see it at Aldi and not Tesco. I agree though, annoying.

Justmuddlingalong · 10/11/2024 19:12

I have never spent time with any man in a kitchen, who doesn't slosh an over wet cloth about when wiping down the bunker. Wring the fucking cloth out properly ffs!
