To say some people behaves like pigs on planes....

So, just that - as a fairly regular flyer it seems that some people behave as if they were in their own living room and don't give a toss about their fellow passengers.

Examples - sat next to a young man who decided to take off his trainers throughout the 3 hour flight - only realised when I wondered what the hideous smell was, old man trying and really struggling to put bags in overhead locker - no-one near him offered to help so in the end I did even though I was a way behind him, people barging off the plane when it lands without letting people in front off, the way some people speak to cabin crews really aggressively as if they are their personal servants (woman kicked off because her card was not working when she wanted to buy cigarettes...) people kicking backs of chairs, chucking rubbish and food on the floor, being sick because they have had too much to drink (and Ryanair crew clearly reluctant to clean the aisle so people went trudging through it) ... quite a long list in all honesty though not all on same flight thankfully!

Lots of examples of rather gross and thoughtless, unkind and rude behaviour or maybe I am just getting old and crotchety (yes that as well)

I find that there are many instances these days where people seem to lose their manners in public. Planes, Cinemas and Theatres being some of the worst examples of of people leaving trash and food debris all over the place, and airports/planes seem to lead to excessive rudeness and anger directed towards others.

It's really disheartening to see to be honest.

Pigs on a plane great movie.😉🤣.

Joking aside I wouldn’t compare them to pigs. Pig don’t conduct themselves in such an uncouth manner

Cheap air fares attract cheap people.

Hoppinggreen · 10/11/2024 12:45

A lot of people do behave really badly on planes I agree.
I think some of it is down to alcohol and the way its served 24/7 at airports.
So many people on my FB feed post about not feeling you are on holiday until you have had a drink etc even if its breakfast time.
People don't always supervise their kids very well on the plane either

teeshirttime · 10/11/2024 12:49

I agree that it's cheap behaviour by cheap people, but they're now affecting everyone and even regular people are starting to behave like this. They're dragging everyone down with them.

Therehastobesomegoodnews · 10/11/2024 12:54

I think your thread title should really be just " some people behave like pigs" OP.

A lot of people just don't know or care how to behave in public. And it's so much worse since Covid.

Although as pp said pigs are actually really intelligent animals so we are being unfair to them

I had to sit behind a family on a long flight, it was parents, their adult kids/in laws and their small kids. They thought it was funny to do the loudest, stinkiest farts. You really do see the pits of society on planes.

Not necessarily. Some of the worst behaviour I've seen has been in first class. Passengers barging others out of the way, excessive alcohol consumption, demanding other passengers move seats to accommodate groups, children playing on iPads with the sound on, seats left like a rubbish tip. On one trip, the parents of the young children behind me gave their toddler a kazoo at the airport Hmm

To answer the OP, YANBU. I'm always shocked at the rubbish left behind when I'm walking down the aisle at the end of a flight. Same at the cinema.

My uncle cleans planes at one of the airports in the northwest. People are disgusting!

On some aircraft's they have to go in wearing POE because people literally shit and piss in the aisles

shittestusernameever · 10/11/2024 13:02

PPE ffs

MidnightPatrol · 10/11/2024 13:02

Every single flight I have been on in the last 12 months, there has been someone watching an iPad with the volume on and no headphones.

It’s genuinely unbelievable how many people think this is acceptable.

This. We were on a flight back from Athens to one of the London airports recently, and I realised (luckily as we were about to disembark the plane!), that there was a turd just beyond the feet of the guy next to me (so beneath the seat in front of him). I have never understood how it got there. The guy was in his twenties and had been reading a book the entire time, so definitely not him. And in front there was a family with kids, one about 12 and one was a baby, and this did not look like a baby poo, it was a proper turd - but I am guessing it must have been the babies....) But still how do you manage to take off the nappy, and chuck a poo on the floor in the middle of a flight (and why would you).

Anyway, we told the staff as we got off - but I will never forget it!
