Doesn't bother me, but partner thinks it's weird and shuts the cat downstairs.

Who is BU?

Mine watch with keen interest: I think it's clear they're conducting field studies into the human mating ritual, and who am I to impede science? 🤷‍♀️

PrawnofthePatriarchy · 10/11/2024 11:19

I had a cat once who always wanted to join in. She would squirm her head between us. Definitely wanted part of the action. I used to put her out and shut the door. She really didn't like that.

Seems fair enough, the cat doesn't care when you can see it licking its arse.

@Ferro 😂😂😂😂

Is this known as 'catting' in those circles that practise it?

👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

Is the cat facing the other way and ignoring you? If so, fine.

My dog would bark and jump on. So that's a no no.

Gettingbysomehow · 10/11/2024 11:23

No I couldnt have sex in front of my cat.

ifIwerenotanandroid · 10/11/2024 11:41

I have literally never seen cats at it. Yowling, yes, but all under cover of discreet darkness (unlike dogs, pigeons, and some humans).

I had a drop-dead-gorgeous young female cat who was a nymphomaniac. I once saw her doing the dirty in the daylight, with a tom cat on the lawn under my neighbour's window. That was embarrassing enough, but just to the side of them was a queue of three other tomcats, sitting there politely waiting their turn!

Another time, a scruffy & probably stray fluffy grey kitten turned up to try to have his way with her, but to my surprise Mrs I'llTakeAnyone spurned him. He obviously wasn't up to her standards. He came round a few times, looking desperate, but it always went the same way. I felt so sorry for him that I was about to adopt him, when he turned up nicely brushed & with a blue collar on: somebody had got him first. My cat started to follow us out to where the kitten was. I joked to my husband that she'd have him now he'd smartened himself up, & so it was: he ran into the house & they were at it right there in front of us, until we shooed them outside.

I know there’s always one who comes into lighthearted threads and gets all serious but…

FFS- why didn’t you have that poor cat spayed?

Craftycorvid · 10/11/2024 13:14

Well, if you can live with the look of silent and withering judgement without that dampening your ardour….😾

Motherrr · 10/11/2024 13:15

Always felt a bit awks if a cat - who is like a family member- is watching...

Attelina · 10/11/2024 13:20

You must be very boring in bed if the cat remains asleep or isn't at least accidentally booted off the bed!

WilmerFlintstone · 10/11/2024 13:24

Cat in the bed during sex : gotta be a joke there somewhere 🤭

TinyTeachr · 10/11/2024 13:59

Ours used to turn up if he thought shenanigans were in the offing. The silent glare was quite off putting! Thankfully now he's older he can't be bothered to come upstairs, but certainly our sofa doesn't see much action unless he's out hunting! (Youngest is still in our room, so that's already out of action).

OnarealhorseIride · 10/11/2024 14:08

I filled in a cat behavior quiz once. The result was that our cat was plotting to kill us due to having watched us shagging

neverbeenskiing · 10/11/2024 14:08

Our cat likes to sleep at the foot of our bed but we've never had to put her out of the room. She always leaves of her own accord as soon as things get going. Your cats must all be perverts.

MrsSkylerWhite · 10/11/2024 14:09

I think it’s weird, too.

LightSpeeds · 10/11/2024 14:09

Scirocco · 10/11/2024 09:45

The cat will watch. And judge. And when they make eye contact with you afterwards, you will know that they have seen everything and they were not impressed.

😂

thecrispfiend · 10/11/2024 14:15

Oh God this has reminded me of a conversation I had once a with a cat owner who was telling me her cat jumped on her husbands back during sex and every time he thrusted the cat would loom forward looking her dead in the eye 👀 👀🤣🤣🤣

VimesandhisCardboardBoots · 10/11/2024 14:16

I have a nice scar on my ballsack from when the cat decided they were a tempting target after I'd just got out of the shower, so no way would I be allowing her to stay on the bed during sex. Luckily she gets the huff and fucks off if someone so much as breaths too loud so shes gone before I'd have a chance to kick her out anyway.

We did soon afterwards, but we were young, we didn't know what we were doing & I remember saying to someone that she was suddenly yowling to go out all the time - a smirk flickered across the hearer's face but they didn't tell me what they obviously knew. Git.

All our cats since then have been spayed/ neutered at the correct time.

IcyLilacZebra · 10/11/2024 15:27

Imagine flying pussys everywhere

thicklysettled · 10/11/2024 15:32

Read Alan Bennett's "The Outside Dog" and see if it changes your mind 😄

ShinyPebble32 · 10/11/2024 16:02

I had my cervical sweep with the cat on the bed, which was pretty weird!

liverpoolnana · 10/11/2024 16:19

True, true. Our three year old wandered into our room one night, and said reprovingly, 'Mummy! Daddy! Stop bouncing the cat!'.

I have to report that said cat clung grimly to the blankets throughout. It had no intention of letting itself being bounced off, thank you very much.

BobbyBiscuits · 10/11/2024 16:32

Haha, the cat will either move or stay but he won't try and get involved. I don't trust a dog in the same way. 🤣
