Cats quite happily have noisy sex outdoors, in full view of anyone nearby. They’ll acrobatically lick their bumhole while you’re trying to eat a meal. The only thing they care about is that you’re selfishly wasting time shagging when you could be doing something far more important, such as feeding them or otherwise attending to their needs.

Sex with an animal audience is a complete turn off for me.

Why on earth would you want the cat watching you?

I would break up with you if I were him.

It would depend how big the bed is, where the cat is on the bed, how much room it takes up and how frisky it is. Stopping mid shag to adjust cat on bed could be a real passion killer.

I have literally never seen cats at it. Yowling, yes, but all under cover of discreet darkness (unlike dogs, pigeons, and some humans).

No cats in the bedroom during sex, and no cats in the bathroom if I'm using the toilet. A little privacy please.

They won't stick around for anything as disruptive to their comfort as sex, but they'll happily watch along to solo activity which is a bit off-putting.

I’m w your husband on this. Firstly my cat would see any movement as a game/prey catching.

Our dog gets off the bed the minute it looks like action is about to start and gives the most judgemental huff 😂

They’re saying they’re uncomfortable so you should respect that and make sure the cat isn’t in the room, just like you would if it was a child.

Yes, but there's a big power and agency imbalance.

A baby will quite happily sit there and loudly poop themselves, regardless of where they are and whoever is present to witness the tell-tale grimace on their face and the resulting top notes that arise in the vicinity; but if mum or dad does exactly the same thing in the bread aisle at Sainsbury's, it's not generally considered quite as cute.

What is it with all the sex posts recently?

For what it's worth, our whippet often sleeps in our bed with us, but she also has her own bed under the desk in our bedroom. Said desk has solid back and sides, and is covered with a cloth, with the open side facing away from our bed, so when on her bed beneath, both she and we are out of sight of one another.

Any inkling that DH and I might start getting up to "bed time (or any other time) "exploits", and she jumps down from our bed and retreats under the desk in disgust, only re emerging when it's all over. 😅

I felt like our dearly departed Labrador was judging me if we had sex downstairs, this was when DS was a toddler and we didn’t want to risk waking him by going upstairs. She used to side eye me and it was off putting, I felt it was wrong! 😑
