Amazon refund processed but not requested

So I ordered some items from Amazon - totalling £600, the items arrived with some minor damage and 2 issues that should have been picked up at quality control, now this is not a big issue as the damage was on the underside so not visible as was the other issues.

I contacted Amazon as there was no information displayed for the seller (I wasn’t looking for a refund, did not wish to return just simply wanted to highlight the issue with the seller). I was told on first contact that as the tracking information had not been updated they couldn’t do anything at the moment but would put a note on the system. On second contact over a week later the tracking information had been updated to ‘possibly lost’ I informed them again I had the items but wanted to be able to make contact with the seller…. I was informed the sale was fulfilled by Amazon and they were the seller, I could contact via phone, email or chat feature in app (which is what I was already doing) I was then told to return the item and they would process a refund as they could assist me no further. Again I stated I didn’t want a refund but the agent ended the chat.

the next day I spoke to an agent over the phone and they sent me an incident report to fill out which I did and attached pictures of the damages. Again I stated clearly I do not want to return or refund the items just wish to highlight the issues to the seller. I then received a notification some hours later stating a refund has been issued and a return label was being provided for said items - a label with no postage is very insufficient for large furniture especially as it arrived damaged!

£600 is a lot to spend on furniture for it to arrive damaged, I expressed multiple times I did not want a refund but it was processed anyway - but honestly what does one do in this instance? I almost feel like closing my amazon account once the refunds cleared in my account haha!

sorry for the long post and many thanks if you’ve managed to make it this far, you’re super!

What do you want?

Some deduction?

If so you need to Clearly state this.

The seller may not want to give a deduction but want the item back and issue a refund though.

FoodieToo · 09/11/2024 21:35

I'm not sure what you wanted either . But anyway, Amazon just refund and get you to return /tell you to keep the item.
They don't do replacements or part reductions or similar .

CountessWindyBottom · 09/11/2024 21:43

You haven’t actually said what you wish to achieve?

Makingchocolatecake · 09/11/2024 22:14

I once got a refund for a tshirt that was too big and they didn't even want it back

KrisAkabusi · 09/11/2024 22:20

You complained about a product so they have issued a refund. If you didn't want a refund, what did you want them to do with the information?

notsosweet16 · 09/11/2024 22:21

I would get in touch again and say you cannot return the items as the label they sent is not sufficient. At that stage they’ll more than likely just tell you to keep it, and you’ll get your money back too. I am also a bit confused about what outcome you wanted from them if you didn’t want to return the goods.

The worst case scenario is if you do nothing now that they’ve requested the item back, they will debit your account again for the money after a period of time has passed.

If you don't want a refund or to return and simply wish to "highlight" the issues surely this is what the review function is for? Write a review, stick a few photos on, job done.

I did attempt to leave a review but it wasn’t posted with the pictures but I had a notification saying that the review wasn’t posted - something to do with not being a ‘verified purchase and negative’ 🤷🏻‍♀️

When they don't receive the return they'll eventually take the refund back again so don't just ignore it. Call them again, sometimes they can be very obtuse.

I had this about an item I bought that was tbh misleading as what arrived was totally different to the photo. The photo I sent to Amazon of what arrived was so different to the photo on Amazon I was refunded very quickly .. id sent photos to seller and had a conversation with them but they won't interested. I wanted to warn others but they won't publish my review as I've been refunded. The item is still being sold and unless they changed it what arrived will be totally different to what you ordered...

everlysu · 10/11/2024 08:38

Have they already issued the refund before you post it back? If so, I'm guessing the email says that if they don't receive the item back they will charge you again in a month or something like that?
In which case just don't send it back.

I don't understand what you want our of it, Amazon don't issue partial refunds so you either keep the item and pay full price or return it and reorder it hoping the next one isn't damaged.

RevelryMum · 10/11/2024 08:56

Amazon are such a bit company they have refunded me several times and told me I do t need to return the item . They have more money than they know what to do with , odd way to run a business but I'm ok with it if I don't have to go to the hassle of returning things

THat highlights the issue for potential buyers, but the seller won't read the review.

Feelingstrange2 · 11/11/2024 16:01

I had this happen once. Back when pretty much all sales were amazon not other sellers.

I used their chat function to log a packaging issue but said I was happy to keep the product as I'd be using it soon and, whilst damaged, it wouldn't affect my use.

I wanted it logged as if the damage had been worse it would have made a right old horrible mess en route.

They wanted a photo to be able to action it and then, after the chat, I got a refund come through and an email.saying to.keep the item.

So I did.

HotCrossBunplease · 11/11/2024 16:06

Are you sure they have issued a refund? More likely they have started returns/refund process but you will not get any money unless you actually return the item.

I have returned things where the refund went through as soon as I dropped off the package to be returned (ie when it was scanned by the shopkeeper at drop off but far too quick for it to have been received back at Amazon and checked). However I have never had money back before actually taking any step to return.

If you just ignore it nothing will happen.
