My Great niece has removed the key from the keysafe at my mothers house. My mother is at present in hospital after suffering a horrendous fall. She is not really conscious and in no postion to have consented to this. My question is can she do this ? Do I have any right to change the lock ? Is this something the police wouls be interested in? I want the key back.

Did your mum give her the code for the box? Why do you think your niece has taken it to do something bad?

The most obvious answer would be to ask her to return the key.
You can't really change the locks without your mother's consent and I doubt it is a police matter unless you have evidence of a crime being committed.

Why has she taken it? Can't you just ask her to return it? Presumably your mum has previously given her the code to open the box. I feel like there's a back story here.
