to order two bottles of wine and a case of beer on the monthly shop when we are supposed to be economising?

The wine is £3.99 each bottle (half price) and the beer is the cheap Bier d'or stuff 24 bottles for £6.49.
We have one night out booked next month so these are treats for at home or in case anyone pops round or we get invited anywhere. If that happens and we don't have the wine I will buy crap for £3.99 from the Spar shop and expensive label beer.
DH thinks I should take them off the order and I think that might be a false economy...plus I want the wine .
So what would you do?

Buy the wine, ditch the beer. Then you have economised and gone half way with dh.

yes agree with cheshire

or buy less beer: 12 bottles

it is easier to drink a beer than open a bottle of wine ime

Take them off the order and then take note of any alcohol you do nuy instead and how much it costs...for ammunition next monnth.

It is a modest amount and counts as your 'going out' so unless your finances are very very stressed, I think it's reasonable to keep them in.

But no bad thing that your DH is taking the economising v seriously, either.

Wow - you only buy two bottles of wine per month - I am very impressed!!! Good on you x

Poor DH has to take the economising very seriously. He has set me a budget this year that I am failing to stick at I only managed three months. Money is tight because we are saving for a house deposit, for Christmas and for holiday treats not because we are totally skint and on the breadline, but it is all lifestyle choices isn't it...and I choose wine .
I like the idea of ditching the beer and keeping the wine....or buying less beer. Will investigate if they do smaller size packs.....The beer is for dh anyway

No smaller packs of beer. Think I will ditch the red wine as it should be getting warmer and I drink red wine in the winter and white in the summer...
We have bought no wine at all in Jan and Feb. It is a good way to save money (and calories).

I would buy the wine. It is on special offer!

Far cheeper than going out. If your DH deosn't want the beer, then don't buy it for him.

I am keeping the booze and cancelling the tuna having found a stash in the cupboard . Thanks ladies.
