Pinworm Hell

I’m so grossed out.

My toddler has pinworms! We saw them in his potty when he’d done a wee and poo and they were literally swimming in there. I’m horrified! Read up on Google that they come out at night so I checked before I went to be and there they were on his bum 🤢 He’s just started pre school perhaps got them there but he’s had no symptoms like bum scratching or eating differently however he has been waking up very early! I put some Vaseline on as it’s meant to stop them laying eggs and he’s not been waking up early since….

Anyway, he was obviously treated immediately (Monday) with OVEX and so have mum & dad as a precaution but we have a baby under 6 months and the GP said they can’t treat due to age. I’ve fumigated the house - all bedding changed daily, clean pjs every night etc - house bleached and hoovered everything. My hands are sore! Anyway, I’ve been checking myself and this morning I found a live one when I went to the loo in my stool - why are they not dead yet? We took the tablets 2 days ago. So I’ve bleached everything again and showered twice today I just feel so unclean! Then Asif that’s not bad enough. Getting baby ready at bath time decided to have a look and see if I could see anything - the tiniest white bits there in babies bum 😭 how do I treat them?! This is absolute hell I feel so dirty and guilty that we’ve all got them.

Yikes.

I'd call a pharmacist to ask advice as I have never heard of live ones after treatment so I wonder if it's a bad case or they've been there for longer than you realise?

It takes a few days for them to starve to death. Thats how the meds work.

Oh dear. How are you? Please keep this thread updated as I’m going through the same. My daughter took 3 doses but I’m not sure we got rid of it yet as she complained about itchy bum lately. I also have a newborn. And instead of enjoying this time together I’m anxious all the time.
