Dull and pointless thread: To think that my husband is wrong and my handwriting is perfectly legible.

I jotted down some notes for my husband and he said I write like a doctor 😂

Aibu to say he is wrong and my handwriting is fine. (Also, anyone want to show theirs?)

YANBU - he's wrong.
YABU - he's not right.

No that was not a mistake.

Ok. While in no way admitting defeat or that my lovely husband could potentially not be completely wrong on this occasion- Would anyone at least agree that if you turn it sideways and look at it the way I wrote it, it looks nice? 😁

(Still dull and pointless thread but hey, I'm here, you're here...

Haha OP - yes it looks nice, and it’s also a bit hard to read in places. One up on mine which just looks like an angry spider wielding a pen, and is still hard to read unless I try hard!

DoYouReally · 07/11/2024 16:06

You should write him a note in block capitals.

YES, YOU ARE RIGHT MY HANDWRITING IS DIFFICULT TO READ.

😀

LastNight1Dreamt1WentToManderleyAgain · 07/11/2024 16:11

Very easy to read. It's a style of handwriting that was commonly taught around the world.

FranticFrankie · 07/11/2024 18:34

It’s very loopy and fancy; are you very arty??

BookishType · 07/11/2024 18:57

It reminds me of the handwriting of a French relative of mine. Are you French, OP?

Anyway, nearly all of my female friends have what I’d call teenager handwriting - basic, one step up from printing style. All looks the same.

Brava to your chaotic cursive!

Goody2ShoesAndTheFilthyBeast · 07/11/2024 19:17

I wouldn't say I'm arty. I have crafting hobbies but not quite the same thing.

Chaotic cursive I like it

It's really hard to read. But does it matter what we think? The problem is communicating with your husband in writing, not total strangers judging which of you is right! He clearly can't read it.

Jessie1259 · 07/11/2024 19:24

Yeah illegible, you join up too many letters. Some (IMO) just aren't meant to be joined - z and x particularly. Your first post looks like a 'lacy dey'. The stalks of your letters are too loopy as well. Sorry OP, your writing is pretty but it's also pretty awful!

AllProperTeaIsTheft · 07/11/2024 19:25

I've had 30 years of reading kids' written work, so it wasn't hard for me ('ve seen a LOT worse!), but objectively it's not very clear tbh.

No. That's true. It doesn't matter at all what you think.
This is really more of a chat really.

I think he’s wrong but to make it a fair assessment you should have used an unknown phrase. Your writing is nicer and more consistent than mine!

I'd sort of forgotten that I did the 90 degree page twist thing when I was younger too (waves in left handed) but stopped at some point. I'm thinking I might give it a go at work to see if it helps with my illegible to do lists.

SabreIsMyFave · 07/11/2024 21:20

Your writing (on your post at 14.46) is still bloody awful @Goody2ShoesAndTheFilthyBeast It's mostly illegible.

Why are you insisting it looks 'nice?' It's giving me a headache trying to read it!

Singleandproud · 07/11/2024 21:25

If you want to see good handwriting find a Lithuanian, I don't know what they do to teach writing there but my goodness it is lovely.

Yes, I think the style of your handwriting looks nice! There's something rather confident and a little bit artistic about it. With only a bit of tweaking it could look both stylish and legible Grin

user1471554720 · 07/11/2024 21:29

I can't read it at all. When I can't read handwriting I get into a temper and tell the people I can't read it. I wouldn't bother spending time deciphering it. Sorry.

PeloMom · 07/11/2024 21:30

I can’t read this

LightSpeeds · 07/11/2024 21:48

It's not great. If I saw that in my job, you'd be getting a 'We can't read all of that' letter 😬😂

Pieandchips999 · 07/11/2024 21:49

Goody2ShoesAndTheFilthyBeast · 07/11/2024 11:33

Well OK. If you promise. 😀

I've reread three times and still believe some of it is French

Ireolu · 07/11/2024 21:50

Your handwriting is pretty terrible. Your husband is correct.

Visual inspection of bed for wear, deformation, corrosion and damage. Check lifting actuators both ends.

See that’s what I got, but wasn’t expecting actuators or corrosion on a bed.

SensibleSigma · 07/11/2024 21:53

That was how I was taught to write, which may be helping. It’s quite and old fashioned cursive, rarely seen now.

Though we did a loopy z as well.

echt · 07/11/2024 21:58

It's perfectly legible.

People have become less tolerant of handwriting now that tech means they encounter typewritten text for the most part.

Only in the post-tech world did I have students routinely come back with work I had marked to say they couldn't read my comments. Having not made the slightest effort. After a while I said to go home and read it with their parents, then come back.
