Carer's element increase?

carerselement · 07/11/2024 07:03

NC and posting for traffic. I can't find the answer to this via google and hoped somebody would know. I've asked in my UC journal but not received a reply. Often replies are nonsensical anyway.

I know that carer's allowance is increasing in April but is the carer's element of UC increasing? I don't claim CA but get the carer's element of UC due to being a full time carer for my elderly parent.

I have never claimed CA because I was told it would mean my parent gets less in benefits and it would be deducted from the UC. My parent claims attendance allowance and is disabled.

Current carer's element is a pittance.

I’m not sure, but even if it does inflate it will be by pennies really. How familial carers are treated in every aspect is beyond a joke.

Carers allowance is going up by 1.6 percent... and universal credit/carers element will follow suit by 1.6 percent.

Your thinking of how much someone can earn whilst claiming carers allowance.

I don't work outside of working for my parent because it's a full time job in itself.
Carer's allowance will be the equivalent of 16 hours at minimum wage which is a big increase on what it is now.

I'm referring to the increase to the equivalent of 16 hours at minimum wage. I can't edit my OP because I'm on the app.

No it won't be. It's literally going up £1.31 from £81.90 to £83.21

That's not happening. You've misunderstood.

The earnings threshold for carers allowance is increasing. You will now be permitted to earn up to 16 hours at minimum wage before losing your carers allowance.

Yes, I've misunderstood, thank you. I thought it was too good to be true!

The carers element of uc will increase to £201.68 from April 2025 it’s written in a news article I read yesterday.

Daschund1 · 07/11/2024 07:18

The amount you can earn (in a job) is going up a lot, not the actual CA and not if you claim UC I don't think, at least only the % mentioned.
