Why do people do this? I don’t understand.

Op has a problem.
Mumsnetters offer OP advice.
However, some Mumsnetters take the time to type out extremely longwinded replies, sometimes several paragraphs long, that the OP absolutely must say/text/email to the person antagonising them.
Is it me, am I missing something? I’d just say tell them to get stuffed.
