To ask for all political threads to go under politics section

Is this an unreasonable ask? I like politics and comment on lots but find the sheer volume of them in recent years totally dominating the feed and suspect at times threads being created by those who are connected with creating agendas - regardless of where you stand politically .

Yabu. This is a busy page with lots of robust discussion, it's the logical place for it.

NBU. Report them and ask them to be moved?

post in site stuff.

AIBU is full of threads that could arguably go somewhere else (work, parenting, relationships would probably be the main ones).

PassingStranger · 06/11/2024 16:24

Can all the I don't want my brother/sister/mum/dad/aunty Brenda for Christmas, ones go in the Christmas section too please.

thecoffeeowl · 06/11/2024 16:27

Along with the “I can’t be bothered to google a recipe so suggest some” threads aswell

PoorlyBlah · 06/11/2024 16:31

YABU! People post what they feel strongly about on AIBU because the other threads have much less discussion and traffic.

Politics is one of those topics which necessitates and instigates discussion, so I'm happy for it to be on AIBU. Also get a better representation of views on here.

As PP said, everything on AIBU could go elsewhere (relationships, parenting etc..).

Personally, I was sad when all the harry and megs stuff got permanently moved from here because I love a bit of royal chatter!

Keep the politics on AIBU 🙂

A lot of politics is ver heated debates with extremes. Anything with an extreme from one side to the other does lend itself to AIBU? It is also relevant that politics is under some other categories, such as did Harris lose because she was woman being posted in feminism.

I think it's fine when they reflect big events at the time, like right now. AIBU always has current topics on it (see all the tedious seasonal moaning about Halloween, Bonfire Night and Christmas). I'd be happy if there was a Seasonal Griping board but sadly there isn't!

MrsBennetsPoorNerves · 06/11/2024 17:08

Yes, it is an unreasonable ask imo. Nearly every thread on Chat or AIBU etc could be moved to a specific topic, but people are freely allowed to post about all sorts of random stuff without the thread police coming out to complain.

Whenever a major national or global event occurs, people will want to talk about it. If you only want to read about style and beauty/TV programmes/relationships etc, then hide Chat/AIBU etc and go to the boards that interest you. No need to police what everyone else wants to talk about.
