How often do your children have a bath -
aged 7 and 9.

Surely it cannot be everyday?? Or am I being thick.

I disagree 🤷‍♀️ to me it doesn’t smell like house smell and washing powder, otherwise you’d expect siblings to smell the same/similar.

They do!

IMO they don’t. Agree to disagree?

Daily whilst in nappies, after that as often as they like. My dd loves a bath!

Gottastoppostingsomuch · 05/11/2024 19:11

Yes, every day. Takes 10 mins. So nice putting clean children into pjs for bed. Can’t imagine going days without them having a bath

SmellyNelliey · 05/11/2024 19:41

A quick shower before moisturizing there skin before bed every night, A bath on a Sunday night.

Coffeeloverme · 05/11/2024 19:45

Definitely after sport or swim, otherwise every other day with wash on the alternate day. IMO that’s quite sufficient.

CoffeeCakeAndALattePlease · 05/11/2024 19:51

Couple of times a week.

proper bath with hair wash on Sundays then quick bath during the week as needed. Don’t usually wash hair midweek.

I've told DD that this will increase when she hits puberty as she’ll sweat etc and her skin and hair will change.

User37482 · 05/11/2024 19:58

Everyday, Mine does sports or swimming everyday and gets pretty sweaty and seems to be constantly covered in dirt. It’s a quick one, we do have to do hair as well and we do have to moisturise. She always has dirt under her fingernails and is primary so don’t 100% trust her to wipe properly etc. I don’t think theres any harm in skipping a day if they haven’t done much but it’s pretty necessary in my house. Mine has mild eczema flare ups and daily bathing hasn’t made any difference to her skin.

I’ve met some musty smelling kids, it’s not smelly as such just musty.

That’s the challenge with all of these boringly predictable discussions - the inability to imagine that people make different choices to yours. Bath/don’t bath, but don’t insist everyone else is doing it wrong.

Eenameenadeeka · 06/11/2024 08:10

Every day here, part of routine and they get outside every day so can get muddy/wash off suncream etc

exprecis · 06/11/2024 08:14

I don't think every other day is a problem.

We do daily because it's better for eczema and because we find it easier to just be in a routine and our kids like a routine

What I have an issue with is people spouting very out of date eczema guidance as a reason not to bathe daily.

And I also think the children bathed weekly are dirty.

Monstermashermashedthemonster · 06/11/2024 08:24

I don't bath mine everyday it's not good for the skin and it's a waste of water. I bath mine every 2-3 days and hair wash once a week.

Marblesbackagain · 06/11/2024 08:26

At that age they showered independently every day. They needed to for personal hygiene.

Regardless of skin nobody wants to be the smelly kid in class. By that age mine needed deodorant (natural).

I have noticed among my friends that English people (mothers) wash the kids every night.
Irish mothers don't.

I don't know why this is. I presume cost of electric/water would have been the same growing up so it's not a financial thing, but a cultural one

I am Irish its always been every night and amongst family and peers.

Edingril · 06/11/2024 08:29

Yes, sure no one has too but why is it such a surprise that people do? It is not a toddler climbing Everest it is a wash
