To expect people to rsvp when they have been invited to something by a specific date, ie a wedding.
I am thinking people are just plain rude/busy?? They have had 2 bloody months to reply. Aaarrgghh!
If they don't reply then I have to chase it up which means a) they haven't got the invite-blame PO or b) they are'nt arsed in replying.
Can you tell i'm mad?

this drives me insane. i have a hitlist of parents at dd's school who's children wont be invited to her party next year, because not only did they not bother to reply to her last one they would actually walk past me in the playground and put there head down so that they did not have to speak to me.

nametaken · 26/04/2008 12:38

so your gonna punish the children because you don't like the way their parents behave?

kerryk · 26/04/2008 12:43

no by next year i will have calmed down and forgotten about it, then i can get myself all worked up about it when people do it to me again.

American wedding invitations come with a stamped addressed envelope and reply card (name will/will not come to the wedding).

Those who struggle to reply are probably more careless than rude - they are certainly very 'normal'. Perhaps wedding replies are intimidating because we are not used to writing formal replies (in reflection of the formal invitation), and don't realise that it's the yes or no that is required, not high-falutin' words.

I remember at my own wedding, in 1986, my mum having to phone round the various relatives to find out if they were coming - and relatives giving off the vibes that they were mildly offended to think that they might possibly not be coming. Very political.
