To complain about this twat of a bus driver? And the twatty passengers?

I've had a shit day anyway, I have a horrid cold and nothing seems to have gone right.
Soooo,
I caught a train back from central London with my DC , DD (1 1/2) in a pushchair and DS (2 1/2) walking.
Normally I would walk back from the station but DS was exhausted, refusing to walk, and kept telling me he was hungry.

So I waited 10 minutes for the bus, struggled on with the buggy and showed my travelcard (that I'd paid almost a tenner for this morning) . But it wasn't my travelcard for today, it was an older one. The driver snatched it from my hand and loudly declared it was invalid, cue me rummaging around my bag/ coat.

I soon realised I was annoying everyone so pulled out my oyster to pay the single fare, but the oyster machine wasn't working.

By this point some idiot yelled 'kick her off, I'm in a rush'. I could hear mumbling of agreement and my cheeks burnt up. Someone else yelled ' let her on for gods sake' and the driver yelled 'shut the fuck up, no fare, no travel, she should get off my bus'.

DS started crying so I eventually found my purse and all I had was a ten pound note. The driver said he had no change so we had to get off and I ended up switching DS into the pushchair and pushing him home one handed whilst carrying DD.

I'm eve more pissed off to have gotten home and realised my travelcard was in the back pocket of my jeans all along, I must have missed it with all the stress.

Oh what a rant, sorry.

2point4kids · 25/04/2008 18:50

Its making me cross just reading it!
I'd complain about him to the bus company!

saadia · 25/04/2008 18:51

That sounds awful and the kind of thing that could happen to me, try to just let it go and not ruin the rest of your day.

alittlebitshy · 25/04/2008 18:51

the oyster machine wasn't working??? and that's your problem why??? What if you only had the oyster on you???

appalling!

Rowlers · 25/04/2008 18:51

Sometimes I despair of the human race.
What's the point of being like that?
At least it's Friday.

2point4kids · 25/04/2008 18:51

I probably would have cried too come to think of it...
Def a nice glass of wine for you tonight

NoBiggy · 25/04/2008 18:52

"Shut the fuck up"???

Well, there's a complaint before you even consider anything else that happened.

I would complain. That was an awful way to treat you.

AmIWhatAndWhy · 25/04/2008 18:52

It's not the first time I've had a twatty bus driver.

I imagine they do get a lot of grief but it's no excuse, especially to do that towards someone with children.

Oh I am so angry.

YANBU to complain at all. The oyster machine shoiuld have been working - not your fault it wasn't. Your fare is already paid for with that is it not? Pity you didn't try your back pocket, but I'd have been the same if that stressed.

I would definitely complain.

bearmama · 25/04/2008 18:55

OMG that is APPALLING. Poor you. Please find a way to report the git of a bus driver.

FranSanDisco · 25/04/2008 18:55

OMG, where on earth do you live? What vile people. I can't believe that happened. I'm not saying it's not true I'm just lost for words. I live in Romford and travel in/out of London now and then and have never experienced such a vile load of shites on one mode of transport. Please complain about that driver. What a ker. (fill in the ).

wrinklytum · 25/04/2008 18:56

Poor youI do sympathise,as I use buses a lot with two little ones.

IMHO bus drivers fall into 2 categories. There is no in between.

Either

a) Really sweet and helpful, will hold baby while you disembark with toddler and unfold buggy(One even got out of his seat and helped me with all my stuff once, bless him)

Or b)Horrid misanthropes who hate the public and take great delight in rolling eyes/glancing at watch or making sarky comments if you dare come near their bus with a buggy and or baby/shopping in tow.Oh and these are the ones who see you running for the bus and drive off when you have just reached the doors.bs.

AmIWhatAndWhy · 25/04/2008 18:58

I'll complain , but won't expect much.

To be honest it's the attitude of not just the driver but other people on the bus that annoyed me.

Fair enough, I get annoyed if someone without a valid ticket holds the bus up but not enough to yell about it, and when I had the DC with me.

Oh I am so mad.

99% of bus drivers in london are twats. The 210 and 143 winning awards across the board for twattery

AmIWhatAndWhy · 25/04/2008 18:59

Aero, with Oyster you prepay but it has to scan on the bus/tube/train to take your fare from it.

mehdismummy · 25/04/2008 19:00

what bus route was it and details please time etc. And we can all phone and complain then they have to do something

AmIWhatAndWhy · 25/04/2008 19:03

It was a 108 from Lewisham to Stratford (I think)
Worst thing is it was only 6 stops home for us so I just wish I'd walked in the first place.

AmIWhatAndWhy · 25/04/2008 19:05

I mean I think it went to stratford, it went to north greenwich for sure (millenium dome, trashy)

OP posts:
GirlySquare · 25/04/2008 19:07

Please complain AIWAW and post the bus route, time and date and I will complain too. That is disgusting behaviour by the driver. I am constantly amazed by how people don't think of others nowadays. I would've paid your fares if I'd been on the bus .

AmIWhatAndWhy · 25/04/2008 19:12

GS I thought the same, or at least backed me up, but no, they either bitched or quietly smirked.

God I hate London sometimes (Yorkshire girl at heart)
