3 days over due date (I know 41wks is fine to get to) but I'm fed up and have tried the classics!

Any other suggestions?

I got to 41+5 and tried everything…no advice unfortunately, just solidarity! Admitted defeat and went for induction in the end and the pessary was enough to kick it all off. She’s now 2 and still a Velcro child so it all makes sense!

Mrsttcno1 · 29/10/2024 11:50

Things I tried (wasn’t 100% successful, started “slow labour” and then I was induced) but anything is worth a try:

  • Curb walking
  • Walking up and down the stairs
  • Spicy curry
  • Sex
  • Long walks
  • Eating dates & pineapple!

Good luck! Xx

Want to 42 weeks with both of mine so kk solid advice although I did eat the largest slice of chocolate cake I've ever eaten a couple of hours before DC2 arrived so always suggest that can't hurt!

UpUpUpU · 29/10/2024 11:53

Oxytocin is your friend here! Lots of cuddling, relaxing, doing things that make you smile.

Nipple stimulation such as hand expressing.

If all else fails, book a nice treat like a meal out or to meet up with friends and your waters will probably go as you are walking out the door 😂😂

Stressing will get you knowhere so avoid that.

have you had any sweeps from the midwife?

candycane222 · 29/10/2024 11:54

Sex, long (comfortably over an hour) walk ideally incorporating some ups and downs, and something so hilarious on telly you laugh till your waters break (thank you Frasier circa 2000)

MrsSkylerWhite · 29/10/2024 11:56

Go for a hot curry and try to find a bumpy track to drive along on the way home.

MagpiePi · 29/10/2024 12:04

A Boxing Day sprout curry and dancing at a party worked for a friend of mine.

Bedtimewoes91 · 29/10/2024 12:05

I went to 41+6 and 41+5

With DD2 I had reflexology (the one where they sort of massage your feet pressure points?) on the Thursday afternoon and went into labour the Friday morning.

I think I would have gone into labour anyway but my god the reflexology was a wonderful way to spend an afternoon regardless!! So relaxing, like a massage without all the oil and touching your body, highly recommend!

whatsthatbloodycatdonenow · 29/10/2024 13:19

Blowing up approx a million balloons for my nieces birthday party seemed to work for me as daughter arrived the following day!

(A million is an exaggeration but it felt like it at the time)

Ilovecakey · 29/10/2024 13:21

Sex and walking a lot could help

Rocknrollstar · 29/10/2024 13:56

Definitely a curry and watch something that makes you laugh

Grahamhousehushand · 29/10/2024 14:00

Get started on a really engrossing newly released thriller in hardback that will be hard to hold with a baby in your arms. Little sod shd turn up once you are about 150 pages in

Cut the grass, I cut the grass in the afternoon, 3 days overdue. Started to get a bit of back ache a couple of hours after I finished and baby was here within 2 hours.
Also squatting, getting on your hands and knees. Generally getting active

MrsA2015 · 29/10/2024 22:06

Did a fair bit of walking over the last few days and generally sorting the house out plus looking after 2 poorly dc! Went for a long walk round town followed up by a while on exercise ball. Hoping tonight is the night somethings triggered off!

Get yourself an IKEA flat pack to assemble.

MrsA2015 · 30/10/2024 12:46

Well something worked, contracting today albeit irregular

Congrats! I’m due today and no signs of baby.

Previous DCs were 39+6 and 40+5 so I’m
hopeful that it will be any day now.

Although it’s my DD’s birthday in 2 days so I was hoping to miss that! 🙈

I was due on my eldests bday on Sunday! Both mine were a day either side of due dates.

Hopefully your labor kicks in today!

Lots of walking, every where! up and down stairs, curb walking. At 40+4, I went for a nice lunch with my mom, we walked there (45 mins) and my contractions started just as the food arrived 😅 obviously stayed to eat, but got a taxi home.

Londonrach1 · 30/10/2024 14:30

Keep walking... literally walk walk walk ...

PrincessHoneysuckle · 30/10/2024 14:32

It's the spice in the curry that can cause contractions due to having the shits.
So any really spicy food that can effect your bowels should work

MrsA2015 · 30/10/2024 21:58

DD born at 6:30 this evening 💝

Oh yes. I was half way through Midnight's Children when DS1 turned up, albeit at 36.3. It is still half read in my bedside table drawer. DS1 will be 30 at Christmas!
