To wonder why remembrance services are starting so early?

Was in the local town yesterday and an event was going on re remembrance and poppies.
Shouldn't that be in 2 Saturdays time ?
That would make it much closer to the 11th November?
Anyone know why it's getting earlier?

They start to sell poppies now. The event you describe may have been the launch of the Poppy Appeal for this year. 3 weeks to raise the money doesn't seem at all early to me.

Launch of the poppy appeal. Two weeks is nothing. There has been Halloween shite in the shops for over a month.

Yes it was probably that.

Some veterans and their families want to be at big national events on Remembrance Sunday. Hence local events being held in the run up to actual day. Also to sell poppies.

Small cheese compared to the overkill for commercial celebrations like Halloween and Chiristmas. Plus they are remembering sacrifice whilst raising money for people who deserve it.
