What do you do with your kids on bonfire night- I often work it but I’m off this year and want to make it fun.

The village display is always nice, so we wrap up and go to watch it. We bring flasks of tea/warm Ribena for the kids, and cinder toffee. That's always very nice and quite the event. Sometimes there's facepainting and a little band.

When we get home we have a late dinner of baked potatoes and chili, or sometimes I'll make colcannon or lentil soup. Kids always get to stay up later and we watch a film together.

Go to a local display.

We also go to a local display. Ours is a BYOFirework kinda event, but we like it all the same.

Ear defenders for the kids at the ready!
