Fireworks 💥

Every few seconds there’s a massive bang. It’s always like this near Halloween but I’m just jumping so badly every. single. time.

I can’t help it, I heard too many loud bangs growing up in Belfast in the 70s.

AIBU to wish they would just save them all for next Thursday night?

I don’t mind them.

Hoglet70 · 26/10/2024 20:03

I don't mind them either but I appreciate I have zero past trauma involving loud noises.

hoarahloux · 26/10/2024 20:15

No need for them outside of organised displays. They're annoying and they frighten my cat. The silent ones should be the only ones available to purchase.

Towerofsong · 26/10/2024 20:18

Last night there was a very loud flash and bang just as I opened my car door, scared the living daylights out of me. This was from people letting fireworks off 50 metres away. Awful for animals.

I have lived in a place where there were suicide bombings, but even without that it's selfish and unreasonable to let off fireworks in residential streets.

Loads last night and tonight. Why?

iamtheblcksheep · 26/10/2024 20:21

I love them.

I love them.

I do too but there is a middle ground. They should not be used for days in the street.

FloralGums · 26/10/2024 20:25

I really like fireworks. No one near me is allowed them though because someone in the village has a horse…

NeverEnoughPants · 26/10/2024 20:30

I'm pretty sure you can get quiet fireworks. I suspect many people (myself included) wouldn't mind them so much. They have started doing displays near me fairly often at 10.30pm at the weekends - and I need to be up at 5am... If they were quiet, there would be no issue. And it would be much less stressful for pets.

Loads last night and tonight. Why?

I've read that some towns are doing Diwali celebrations this weekend, so probably some people are doing the same. Diwali falls on Halloween this year.

Not endorsing it but that might be why.

I grew up in the 70s/80s .. and it was much worse then than it is now. Every corner shop seemed to sell them, the night filled with the sound of bangers and air bombs .. for weeks before

Our local display is tonight .. I supposed next weekend people will be at their own parties.

Threelittleduck · 27/10/2024 15:16

I used to like them but now my DD is terrified of the noise (due to her autism). Luckily she now had noise cancelling headphones.
There were loads last night and woke DS up twice.
I think there should only be fireworks at organised events anyway.

AgileGreenSeal · 27/10/2024 19:25

Huge bangs going off here tonight. And it’s pouring rain so why are people out? 🤷🏼‍♀️
