Without asking. She came home like this.
Are there any hairdressers here who can recommend what to do?

OMG I’d be fuming. I’d ask her to pay for a cut at the hairdressers, see what they can do.

StarDolphins · 25/10/2024 20:54

Are you sure your DD hasn’t done it & Mum is covering for her? That does not look like a grown up has cut it.

It was mum. She has glaucoma.

Just take her to a hairdresser.
Did she do it or did DD?

SauviGone · 25/10/2024 20:58

Oh dear. Did she even have a fringe in the first place? It looks like someone's pulled a few bits forward and randomly hacked at it.

I’d be able to trim it to make that look a lot better, but ultimately it’s going to need about 6 weeks of growth to look right.

I’d be furious. What was your mum thinking?

Purplecatshopaholic · 25/10/2024 20:58

I’d be apoplectic. How dare she. I take it you have read her the riot act, total breach of trust.

Snugglemonkey · 25/10/2024 21:00

Did she say why? I would be furious. She would not have unsupervised time again.

mumtoababygirl · 25/10/2024 21:00

What did your Mum say about it when you picked her up? I’d go mad!

Should she be having your dd unsupervised if she can't see well? Cripes that's a bad do.....

Serene135 · 25/10/2024 21:03

I would be annoyed, yes, but it’s also important to put things into perspective. Just make it clear to your mum that it cannot happen again. Could you use some pretty clips to clip it back off her face? It will grow back 🌺

Radiolala · 25/10/2024 21:06

I wouldn’t be leaving my dd with her again.
Is your mum ok?

AgainandagainandagainSS · 25/10/2024 21:07

Oh dear not a good look. Yes, find a hairdresser for a repair job.
Why did she feel the need to play hairdressers? Was her hair in front of her eyes?

she had tied it all up with clips so it wasn't visible and I only noticed it just now!

Not a lot to say really is there

Sorry OP, it's terrible, but will one day make for a hilarious story.

Hairclips possibly, in the interim? I hear they're in vogue atm... 😕

Tigertigertigertiger · 25/10/2024 21:21

You can even it up yourself with a pair of scissors.
No point fuming/ being apoplectic, whatever. Maybe ask your mum not to do it again

Have you asked your mum what happened, or has your daughter told you that granny did it? It definitely looks like a child’s attempt to get her hair out of her eyes! I’d make sure you know the truth before you do anything hasty!

It was mum. She has glaucoma.

I'm not sure she has accepted the severity of her diagnosis. Is she OK? Is she safe to supervise your child?

I wonder if it would be better to leave it as it is. There is a longer piece so if OP doesn’t want to use clips then she might be able to create a little sweep. I think if she evened it out it would look really short and blunt (and worse in my opinion).

That's a bit OTT

Butchyrestingface · 25/10/2024 21:41

Did she - or your daughter - say WHY she did it?

Fairylightsforever23 · 25/10/2024 21:48

Oh dear! Your mum has overstepped here. It'll grow back an a hairband or clips will help but I do wonder if your mum is okay to have her! It's bad judgement and tbh her sight must be awful atm.
