Help I have reported harassment and stalking I have been receiving from my sister, she has been using her friends to stalk me and harass me. Also used my family members to do the same and I have had to cut off communication with most of my family due to her harassment and their encouraging of her behaviour.

i have reported it but in my statement I was all over the place the police officer was even concerned about me. I also said a lot of unnecessary information. I don’t know what came over me. I felt like the police were not believing what I was saying because what she does is so ridiculous that it sounds crazy to say.

anyway I wanted to change my witness statement, and take off some of the unnecessary stuff I said. Can I do that?

please let me know

Also anyone else went through family harassment? Please could you share your experience with me thank you

you were probably in shock and rambling, but that doesn’t take away the fact that you need police help. I am sure your statement is fine. The police will have seen and heard this type of thing before, don’t worry about being believed, many people have been harassed by family members . The most important thing is that you logged it with police.

@Womblewife Thank you so much for your response, yes her latest behaviour was shocking and I did try to stick to the facts but I think I was just too emotional.

I am currently waiting for the main officer to contact me back, and he is going to inform me what needs to be done. Fingers crossed my statement wasn’t too confusing.

When you are feeling calm write down a record of the harassment you have been subjected to. In chronological order is probably best and keep it as brief as possible while including all the necessary information. You may want to come back to it and edit. Then, if anything else happens, you can add that. You can offer this to the police to be added to your statement or just keep it as your own record.

The police are used to taking statements from people who are upset.

Don’t do anything for a few days, let your emotions settle

@Delphiniumandlupins I have started writing everything down and I am also looking for evidence. This has taught me a valuable lesson of not also talking too much when I am nervous and I will try to keep things brief from now on.
