Hi there,

so I recently handed in my notice with my current employer to go to another job role which is better suited with my family life, haven’t left under bad circumstances at all and my employer understood my reasonings for leaving which wasn’t an easy decision for me to make. I’m around a week into my notice period and my employer has turned really nasty towards me, has started excluding me (which hasn’t been the first time) including a huge event that I was invited to three months ago and just two days before said event they’ve turned round and said I’m not allowed to go because I’m leaving and is making my working day extremely difficult to get through and quite frankly it’s getting to the point it’s so bad, that I’ve considered walking out, which is something I’ve never done before. My next pay day is Monday but wanted to know that say I walked out tomorrow will they legally still have an obligation to pay me on Monday or could they withdraw that payment? Many thanks ♥️

They could withdraw the payment for the period you walk out for as you are contracted to work your notice - unless the company agrees you can go early. By walking out you are not fulfilling your contract.

They have to pay you the time you have worked but walking out seems extreme. Surely the benefit of you attending an event is lost if you are leaving, so reasonable to not ask you to attend. How much notice have you given?
