To want to be paid full time for the week

I work for a fully remote company 4 days a week and next month we are going to a week long conference overseas. I feel very lucky to be going but wondering whether to question how compensation will work for that week? I’m guessing I can’t just take my day off and lay by the pool for the day and will be expected to join in which I have no problem doing but just feel a bit resentful that those who work full time will be being paid for the 5 days yet I’ll only be getting paid for 4?
WIBU to ask HR what the deal is? I don’t want to come across as unappreciative.

Yes of course you should definitely ask because you're not volunteering to go are you, it's required as part of your job.

I also work remotely part-time. My company would just have me fill out my timesheet to reflect the time worked and pay me accordingly. It has happened more than once, either because of travel or just because they needed me to pick up some extra work.

I would assume paid or a day’ TOIL. Check which with HR, make it clear it is an either or.

HelpMeGetThrough · 23/10/2024 03:07

As previous poster has said, surely you either have TOIL or put in an overtime claim for the day.

Codlingmoths · 23/10/2024 03:21

I’d send an email saying that ‘the conference would be a 5 day week for me, so is the extra day usually paid or given as time in lieu (in which case I’d take it next week so want to update my manager).

if it’s time in lieu and your firm doesn’t do that often I recommend taking it pretty soon to link the events.

Viviennemary · 23/10/2024 05:08

Or ask for a day off in lieu.

LeafHunter · 23/10/2024 05:37

What does your contract say happens for overtime? I’d start there.

autienotnaughty · 23/10/2024 06:06

I would email hr-

Just wanting to confirm will i need to take X day as a day in lieu, or put a claim in for additional hours?

Don't write it as a yes or no. If they say it will still be a day off email your line manager for clarification.
