Anyone else's little one had a strange bug and lost voice?

Probably worrying over nothing but wondering if anyone else's DC has had this. DS has been fine until last night when he suddenly woke up in the night crying and saying he couldn't talk, he had lost most of his voice and said his throat was really sore. Woke up absolutely fine apart from the lost voice, no temp and was running round like normal. Had a good day at school, but came home and voice started going again and started to say his neck was really sore. He asked to go to bed at 4.30 which is not like him at all! Also has a rash on his face that keeps coming and going. Just a bit strange as there is no temp, no runny nose etc.

Yes - something very similar going around at my child's school! My son has a few of the symptoms and a few other children in his class have the varying symptoms you've mentioned above!

DC1 has got something almost exactly like this (and he is rarely ever sick). Woke up last night crying out his throat hurt. Seemed fine this morning but when I got him from the childminders she said his voice had been raspy and he’d been on quite a short fuse. He’s been miserably tired this evening although he has been coughing a lot too. Really chesty cough.

Im wondering if it’s the beginnings of hand foot and mouth. That seems to be rampant here at the moment and tends to start with a couple of days of cold/flu symptoms before the spots.

@Bridetobe1234 @VivaVivaa sorry to hear both your DC are suffering too. I was wondering about possible scarlet fever as that's been going around DS's class. But no body rash or anything. Still hoping it's just a bit of a sore throat on its own and he will wake up feeling better

My daughters voice sounded really strange when she had scarlet fever! She also had a sore neck.

But there's also some nasty viruses going round at the moment, feels like everyone is poorly! Hope he feels better soon.

Several times and came back after a day or two. If longer or if sick definitely see a doctor (if you can).

Hi! Just having a read as my son has exactly this... what did it end up being?! Will book a GP appointment for tomorrow. Hope your boy was ok and recovered quickly!
