I quite often look at threads with three or four pages of replies, only to see that the op has not come back. I don't bother to read any more

OP posts:

Cool story

BabyCloud · 22/10/2024 15:20

You can click to see all of their posts without reading the full thread.

It annoys me. If I post a thread I always try and reply to every comment, or as many as I can.
When it is a typical goady post, and you see the OP has never returned, you can just about bet they're sat there laughing at all of their replies.
Also, when it's a serious or interesting topic, and there's never been a further update after everyone's engaged and given their advice.. call me nosey but it really does irritate me !! 🤣

toomuchfaff · 22/10/2024 15:27

you'll always get the ones where OP disappears because the thread didn't go the way they thought...

Yes - no one thinks you're right, unanimous people think you're wrong. OP gone...

Needalisteningear · 22/10/2024 17:32

Where have you gone op?! 😂

I get really invested into some and nothing!

Same. And you always get the posters who say ‘the op doesn’t owe you an update’, which is true. But it’s still annoying when you’ve become emotionally invested and spent time genuinely trying to help them 🙄😂

MiraculousLadybug · 22/10/2024 17:36

I don't think the OP is coming back... 😁

Yeah it's really frustrating in most cases e.g. parking threads, and sometimes very worrying e.g LTB threads. But if they've abandoned a pile-on, I don't blame them.

roses2 · 22/10/2024 17:38

I'm always astounded at the posters who claim they are waiting for an ambulance, out with a friend and not having a great evening etc and continuously post updates throughout the night. I mean who sits there updating mumsnet whilst all that is going on??

tillytoodles1 · 22/10/2024 18:00

I am back. It's a pretty boring thread and I wasnt expecting any replies, but it really brother's me when there's one pst and no updates. I know some will say that I'm not owed a update, but why post in the first place.

OP posts:
WhatNoRaisins · 22/10/2024 18:04

A lot of them are wind up and go trolls.

ginasevern · 22/10/2024 18:09

I think you are owed an update actually. If someone asks advice or pours their heart out and people take time and effort to help. At the very least a "thanks for all the replies" should be offered.

5128gap · 22/10/2024 18:13

Why not? The OP is just the person who starts the discussion, then other people talk about the topic. If the OP comes back that's great, but if they don't people just chat amongst themselves, which is fine.
