To be so sad that Nuud no longer works since the formula changed?

Having spent my whole life (since adolescence) struggling with mild BO, treating the armpits of tops each wash, worrying in the summer, feeling like I smell and trying every product available…. Until, at the ripe pld age of 40 I found the miracle product for me, a deodorant that actually worked, no more pong and for 3-4 days I just wash with water each morning and apply some fussy or wild to smell nice. It sounds dramatic but it made me so happy not to have to worry.

and now they’ve changed the formula and it doesn’t work anymore 🤬

it’s still got the silver in (the key part?) but they have changed the carrier oil and now it does not stay on or last very long at all.
I emailed them and they said it is because the French market did not like the texture and without me having mentioned it said it was not a cost saving exercise, which makes me think it probably was!
I am gutted I feel disproportionately upset by this. Can anyone recommend a silver colloidal deodorant that actually works? I have tried every antiperspirant on the market (literally I believe!) And now I have experienced being pong free I am desperate to go back to it.

Has anyone tried Natures greatest secret silver deodorant? Nuud was the first colloidal silver one I tried so I think it’s the silver that made a difference?

I used to get on with Driclor. Did you ever try that? It’s slightly uncomfortable the first few times but really works!

NannyR · 20/10/2024 14:50

I've never tried one with silver in it, but I've used a salt crystal stone for years and it's the only thing that keeps me odour free. Sure, Mitchum, Nivea etc, even the extra strength ones don't work for me, but the salt one works brilliantly, it keeps me odour free even if I skip a day's shower. It works by dissolving a thin layer of salt on your skin and that means that bacteria can't grow - it's the bacteria reacting with sweat that causes odour (silver does the same job as salt).
I just rub the stone on wet armpits straight after a shower. They last for years too, so very economical and eco-friendly in terms of plastic waste.

I know this isn't what you're asking but have you tried the Natural Deodorant company. I absolutely stunk when I was breastfeeding- it wasn't mild BO, I had to shower 3x a day to prevent the smell and ND company stopped the smell completely

Thanks, I’ll try them, I’m not super stinky but I do have a whiff by lunchtime despite showering every morning. I’ve tried witch hazel, antibacterial soap, everything and was so happy to find Nuud, gutted that they’ve changed it so it just doesn’t work 😔

I know this doesn't answer your question (sorry!) but have you tried AKT? I started using it recently and have been very impressed (and I've been down the Driclor etc route previously and was on the verge of giving up).

AKT is pricey but so far is working for me.

I alternate between AKT and Make Waves which is also pretty good:

Botox in the underarms is like switching off a light but obviously it won't be for everyone.

AKT seems good, but I have only recently used it. I have used salt rock for years, it takes a good few days to build up then it's a dream. Also, I stopped using shower gels and used bar soap - I stopped getting body odor (but it returns if I use shower gel or bubble bath eg in hotels, and takes a week of being back to soap to stop). I think the surfactants or whatever strip too much (probably so we buy more shower gel and deodorant).

I only use bar soap too, I find gel etc doesn’t make me feel clean enough.

Have you switched from salt rock to AKT? Maybe I didn’t give a salt one long enough to start working? I’ll try both though

I second the recommendation for Natural Deodorant Company. Have been using it for years and it is second to none.

Runskiyoga · 20/10/2024 18:17

Someone recommended AKT on a thread about fragrance, that's the only reason I am trying it. The smell is orangey, not unpleasant. I'll probably go back to salt rock because it's reliable and one lasts forever unless you drop it and it breaks.

There are 5 different AKT scents so not necessarily orangey unless you choose that specific one. I use AKT's Columbia Road and the scent is very very subtle.

Have you tried Super Deodorant? It’s a Canadian indie brand similar to Nuud’s old formula. I do find it smells a bit like wax crayons but it dissipates
