Terrifier films

AIBU to enjoy the films and Art the Clown as he is but also be totally creeped out by the actor who plays him and get a really bad vibe from him? I’m a huge horror and gore movie fan but the actor himself unsettles me when I've seen him doing interviews etc.
Obviously give this a pass and scroll on if you're not into the films or genre. I’m posting because I can't put my finger on why the actor unsettles me far more than the character ever did. Something has my spidey senses tingling, which is rare for me.

Just looked the actor up and he’s pretty creepy just from a still image!

Chucklit · 19/10/2024 00:27

@Gymrabbit But why is he way more creepy than the character?! I've seen many social media posts saying he'd "get it" even without the costume. I've got the complete ick. I've been similarly attracted to other horror movie baddies over the years (looking at you Tobin Bell), but this is like a weird sense of nope, something's really off.

I’m not a big fan of the genre, just like to keep myself informed about popular culture generally.
with ‘he’d get it’ are you saying that fans are sexually attracted to him because he seems so depraved and weird?
I can sort of see the attraction in Tobin Bell actually.

SocksAndTheCity · 19/10/2024 00:33

I like David Howard Thornton (and I think he's a great mime artist), but mostly because he puts some serious effort into taking the piss out of Trump 😀

The Terrifier films aren't huge favourites of mine, but they're a bit of fun and I like that it started on a micro budget and people just took to Art/the films. I didn't see the early shorts where somebody else played Art though.

Chucklit · 19/10/2024 00:42

@Gymrabbit yes exactly that! But people are saying the same about the character and actor either way.
With Tobin Bell I fell for the voice and appearance just as I did with Alan Rickman playing Snape, plus Ive always liked older men 😂
I can see that I could be picked apart on that alone, which is fair enough. I just wonder if anyone else feels as uneasy as I do about this particular actor. I've never had this kind of strange off putting reaction before.
He could of course be lovely in real life and I’m way off.

No you're not, I love Art the clown 🤡..there's something quite endearing about him, even though he's one sick bugger putting it mildly..
The actor who plays him is rather lovely in interviews

I think he's sweet, watch him in interviews, he's anything but creepy...

I like the actor! I don't think he comes across as creepy at all.

AnotherChildFreeCatLady · 02/11/2024 14:40

So are you saying you would rather cross the actor who plays art in a dark alley at night over art? I don't really think he looks that creepy but oh man, I would shit myself if I ran into art. He terrifies me. Clowns terrify me in general but he really does. I'm also an avid horror movie fan, it's my favourite guilty pleasure. Also, sidenote, but is terrifier 3 worth it? My husband refuses to go with me bc he thinks it will just be torture porn minus the plot.

I saw it on its first day of release, I loved It, thought it was the most brutal in the series mind you, but it had comic moments too ( the Santa clause bar scene ) .. there's going to be a 4th one and I can't wait 👌

Good to know, thanks! My husband still says hard pass, so guess I will be watching alone...

I watched it in my own in the cinema, apparently the 4th one will be about Art the clown's origins 😧👌

Brananan · 04/11/2024 22:52

He's not at all creepy - he's a nice bloke and apparently is good friends with the actor who plays Robbie Rotten in Lazytown.

IcyLilacZebra · 04/11/2024 23:10

Not creepy at all tbh
