To think the haste that some posters show to create a thread regarding the death of a celebrity is distasteful?

Some are in such a rush to be The One that announces the passing they can't even form a full sentence as the title.

It's a poor show.

I much prefer the measured and thought out tributes

Has anyone been on the website death list? It’s a list of 50 celebrities and well known figures such as politicians. A group of people decide who goes on it. For many years Prince Philip was the number one on the list. Most of the people listed are in their 90s and early 100s

people want to share the news
they need to talk

Or want to speculate and gossip.

GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER · 17/10/2024 21:14

I hardly ever know who it is that they’re talking about.
Dame Maggie Smith being the notable recent exception.
Oh, and Alex Salmond.

Heard about someone being woken up last night by a friend sending them a video of themselves crying. WTF?!!

Does anyone actually care about drug and alcohol fuelled sleb deaths? Fake competitive mourning. It's all a bit cringe

I think this is an unnecessarily nasty comment. The mode of death doesn’t change the outcome. He lost his life and his family and friends have lost a loved one. Unless he purposely killed himself, he didn’t want to die. People do silly reckless things everyday, doesn’t mean they deserve to die. And nothing changes just because they’ve been on the telly.

Exactly. Vile comment from @QueenBitch666 Definitely has an apt name!

You’re not wrong

personally I find the ‘jokes’ worse. I’ve seen several ‘humerous’ jokes/ memes this evening
disgraceful

XenoBitch · 17/10/2024 22:49

I see what you mean. Sometimes it comes across as a competition as to who can mourn the most.
TBH, I had no idea who this chap was and had to look him up.
What is ghoulish is all the speculation about his death. An inquest will sort that out.

Oh get a grip FFS! It's a huge news story. People are going to report things about it, and interview people who knew him. Catch yourself on. Ludicrous overreaction! 🙄

Reporting the news is one thing - but the way the media is constantly clamouring to try to find something "new" to report is awful.

I saw one this morning "BRAKING NEWS - Liam Paynes cause of death confirmed"
There was never any doubt about the cause of death, but the fact it's been made offical is an excuse for them to put up another head line making it sound like they have something new and bait more clicks
