"Just a quick question" - it never is

I hate this phrase, anyone else? When people email saying "just a quick question" what they actually mean is they want a quick response.

9 times out of 10 it's not a straightforward query. Am I right?

Yep. I used to work with someone like this. The ‘quick question’ was generally one asking for information which would take a couple of hours to collate. Just reply along the lines of ‘quick answer - I’ll be able to get that data to you by tomorrow afternoon’ or similar. I really do sympathise.

I dislike "Just a quick question" just as much as "When you have a minute..."

My mum keeps saying "When you have a minute..." to me. It nearly gives me a nose bleed.
