Is this a Vinted scam?

4 days ago I bought a jumper off Vinted. The seller has not sent it. Then yesterday I got a text message from Evri with a link saying there was a problem with my delivery address and to click a link. I did not click the link! I wonder if the seller has no plans to actually send me the jumper it's all a scam so that when the Evri message is sent, I'm more likely to click because I know that I am waiting on something. Am I being overly suspicious or is this a Vinted scam?

I'd say scam. If there's a problem, message the seller and ask them to track.

TheFlis · 13/10/2024 11:25

The 2 things are unrelated. They send out millions of those texts, it would be far too labour intensive to do the whole Vinted bit then the scam text in the hope you will click on it.

If it hasn't been sent how can it be being delivered? Sounds coincidental, it's either another delivery or a scam.

Vinted normally updates any parcels sent. The text was likely a scam and nothing to do with the seller or vinted but a coincidence because most people are waiting for parcels these days.

I mean the text message is definitely a scam, I was just trying to work out if the Vinted seller is in on it 🤣

I think the two things are unrelated. Those text scams work on the basis that a high proportion of people order things for delivery regularly.

The Vinted seller has a week to send the item.

No, course not. It's just a coincidence. The vinted seller doesn't have any access to your number or address unlike Ebay for example

That's not correct: once a seller downloads the label then if you've chosen an option that is delivered to your home they do have both your name and address.

No, it will just be a coincidence. The Vinted seller has 5 days to post your parcel and has no access to your email address anyway.

I've never seen anyone's address, I just get a qr code... maybe I'm blind 😂

With Evri, even if you choose a digital label - the buyers full name and address is printed on the receipt the Evri parcelshop give you!

dragonfliesandbees · 13/10/2024 11:38

Coincidence. How would the Vinted seller have your phone number?

I take a photo of the label on the parcel when sending too
