This is insane, why on earth would anyone subject people to this? There's even a GoFundMe for the postage.

Anonymous author has emailed Yorkshire Live to explain a little more

Someone's been watching too many Netflix films 🙄😂

I’m not surprised that the author has been unsuccessful in getting their stories published - what horrible, pedantic prose!

offyoujollywelltrot · 10/10/2024 13:51

I can't understand why they thought doing this was a good idea.

They obviously want it to go viral to get interest from publishers as so far they have not had anything published despite submitting things.

CoffeeCantata · 10/10/2024 16:52

Don't know the details of this case, but it made me think of something awful that happened to my sister and the damage that caused which has never been repaired.

My sister's email was hacked and an obscene sexual message was sent to everyone on her contact list, which at that time included lots of elderly people (friends and relations of my mother who was dying at the time, and my sister was in contact with them in relation to this). She was mortified, and was able to explain what had happened to most of them, but she said that some of the really elderly people didn't understand what she was telling them and never treated her in the same way again. On top of the stress she was going through supporting my dying mother, this was really hard.

WiddlinDiddlin · 10/10/2024 17:30

I can't imagine anyone was genuinely scared, having read the excerpts... its very clumsily written and mentions 'coitus' and 'trysting place'... whilst they've not published the full thing, I think its not going to be anywhere near as scary as that headline leads you to believe.

I just want to know how this person hasn't heard of blogs and social media, both places you can thrust your stories and witterings upon the world without having to pay for postage!

And if you wish to write porn, theres Literotica!

Attelina · 10/10/2024 17:36

I'd prefer that to the awful letters from the Jehovahs Witness brigade!

I had an email similar to this posted by a man I’d had a few dates with and it turned sour. I made the stupid mistake of letting him know where I worked and he emailed all the partners on the company letterhead with lots of detail about sexts we’d exchanged. Luckily I was leaving anyway and as I was so upset about it, one of the younger lawyers who was a bit stern (probably overworked) came up to me and gave me a hug and said what an arsehole this man was for sending this.

It certainly gave the company some gossip and I was placed on gardening leave presumably so everything would die down.

Anyone who posts this stuff or gets involved in publishing it really is a sad person, you can tell it’s a novice as they haven’t gone into full detail just given juicy tit bits eluding to sex.

Saschka · 10/10/2024 17:44

That is some really awful clunky prose. Agree this is a last ditch attempt by a terrible writer to get signed by an agent by stirring up a bit of interest in the papers.

Sethera · 10/10/2024 18:02

The prose reminds me of one of the trolls who used to post here.

Wicked Little Letters?

Oh god I used to get letters from them until I wrote back and told them to keep their culty bullshit to themselves.

Bloody hell that's appalling. I'm so sorry that happened to you because it could have gotten so much worse. Did he leave you alone eventually?
