To avoid answering unknown numbers? Ring ring

Your phone’s ringing. You take it out of your pocket, and suddenly… you see it’s from a number you don’t know! 😱

Are you answering it, or letting it ring?

I’d love to hear your thoughts and any funny stories about those mysterious calls!

If I'm not expecting a call from say the doctor, where it could be a random number then I'll let it go through to voicemail.

If it's important/genuine they'll leave a message.

Well, I answer it because that’s what my phone is for. If I don’t want to speak to the caller, I hang up. If I do, I stay on the call.

I answer my front door, too. I’ll hand in my MN registration now.

If it's quite clearly coming from somewhere I don't know anyone (London, Belfast, wherever) then I don't answer because it's quite clearly a cold caller or spam. Otherwise yes I probably will.

I don't even pick up the phone if it's someone I know unless they text first 😂

I answer if it’s a local number but when some random number from the other end of the country calls me I ignore it. I always Google and 10/10 times it’s a scam caller.

I used to ignore but now if it's not flagged as spam I answer because I had someone in hospital once and that then made me realise the call may be urgent. As soon as its clear it's not u hang up

I'd answer, my phone tells me if it's spam.

Like a pp, I only answer an unknown number if I'm expecting a call from the GP or hospital.

Otherwise, it will be spam, fraud or a charity I've donated to in the past trying to get me to sign up for a regular donation.

I answer unknown, spam calls I ignore

If it’s an unknown number I don’t answer it. If it’s important they’ll leave a voicemail and I’ll get back to them. 9 times out of 10 they don’t leave a message.

I don’t understand people who don’t answer the phone if they don’t recognise the number, at worst you can just hang up 🤷🏼‍♀️

It's generally a valid call for me so I'm happy to answer. I've got kids so it's in the back of my mind it could be related to them.

I screen the call using the Android screening service.

All the calls I have received from the hospital/GP have been ‘unknown caller ID’, so I’ve known it is genuine. Some are from a location I’m not expecting, so don’t answer, but I’ve noticed some cold calls are from a mobile number/my area code, so I’ve been caught out!

I answered one this afternoon. It was a good job I did.

I haven't in ages.
Last time, it was some scamming garbage. They said that I needed to do something with my mobile phone. I told them I didn't have one. I explained that I don't have a mobile phone or a land line, so if I need to speak to someone, I do it in my head and we communicate telepathically.
They hung up.

My phone only rings if the number is in my contacts. Everyone in my contacts knows to text me instead of calling.
