To ask if your teen DC vape?

Do your teen DC vape? My 17 year old DD has just started vaping and I’m furious as we are all non smokers in this household. Just wondering, out of interest, if anyone else’s teen DC vape and what did you do to try and stop them? Did it work or did they just keep on vaping? I’m determined to get DD to quit vaping but DH thinks it will be difficult due to her age!

No, but if she did I wouldn't allow it at home or when out with me.

I'd take the temporary dip in relationship for teaching her that setting boundaries as an adult is important if someone does something that you are against / is harmful.

Bit unusual to charge a 17 year old rent? Is she not in education?

I don’t understand why people who haven’t smoked take up vaping.

Most teens have never smoked, and vape for the same reasons that we used to take up smoking in our generation (peer pressure, rebelling against authority, looks cool etc). My 17yo doesn't vape (at least she says she doesn't and I believe her - I can't be 100% sure of course) but most of the kids in her class do.

Has anyone managed to stop their DC from vaping? I imagine it must be quite difficult to.

yes but my DC are younger. The eldest tried it - they all do and we sat down and discussed it. We also told them - it's an absolute no, and will have consequences, the first being no money from us.

17, that's tricky - though I would ban it in my home, around me, and cut off any money to the teen...

DH thinks we won’t be able to stop DD from vaping but I do want to find a way to stop her vaping.

How did the Boomers stop our generation from smoking as teens?

JellyComb · 10/10/2024 13:57

@CowTown They didn't. We just smoked regardless.

It amazes me how if everyone at school is vaping, how many parents believe their own kids when they say they do. Just look at this thread!

A close friend insists her daughter (16) doesn't vape and said she would be furious if she did, but ive seen the daughter loads of times waiting for the school bus vaping. Kids lie!

30 Rock Hello GIF

You’re lucky she resisted until 17.
I saw a primary school girl in uniform puffing away a few months ago.
Maybe buy a garish big one on a lanyard with some zero nicotine filler and blow monstrous clouds whenever you see her friends.
