To be really frightened I could have cancer!

For the last couple of months, I’ve had some random bruising. Never more than 2 or 3 bruises at a time. The bruises have all been on my legs except from 2 on my hands. I’m quite a clumsy person, so I initially thought these bruises were from injuries, but over time, I’ve realised that they are occurring in places I couldn’t possibly have bumped!

Also, since having my last period, my body has begun totally aching. My shoulders, knees etc. My arms feel heavy just holding the steering wheel in the car. My period ended a couple of days ago, so these aches and pains have been for around 4 days.

I have spoken to the GP this morning and will be having blood tests tomorrow morning. I then have a follow up GP appointment booked for next week.

I am so scared that this could be something serious. I am a 35 year old mum of two children (11 and 8). I just need a hand hold!

I know it's far easier said than done but try not to worry and stress until you have any results from these blood tests, there are plenty of none serious things it could be (anemia for example) but I completely understand why you are scared. Try to be kind to yourself

Thank you for your reply @Dramatic. I felt more worried after speaking to the doctor because I knew her questions were to try to rule out luekemia. I’m an anxious person anyway, but right now it’s off the scale.

I think it's far more likely that you have a deficiency - I bruised horribly when I had very low Vit D. They have to rule the bad stuff out but that doesn't automatically mean that's what you have.

You've done well to go and get the tests instead of just worrying, and that means that, if it is cancer, you've helped to catch it early to give yourself the best chance with treatment.

Thank you both. It’s going to be a long week waiting for these blood test results.
